3 long years and probably 25,000 posts among us.

Now, we're still here, and like yesterday's congress, the spl sheep are gone.

Victory is ours.

never forget:

"Bush-hate can never win an election."
"Liberals = Terrorists."
"The WMD are in Syria."
"I blame Clinton. He perjured. He got blowjobs in the Oval office."
"America is a conservative nation."
"Red-states rule."
"America elected conservative Democrats last night."
"Purple-finger power."

We faced a 1,100 day barrage of utter complete propaganda bullshit. Make no mistake, liberals saved the United States of America yesterday.

Amen, my poor, condemned to hell compadre, Amen. The tide had indeed turned. No Cnut to hold it back. America has embraced the liberal cause once again and it will once again be a shining beacon of hope for all the world to look to. Now it is our turn to lead this country back into the light and away from the darkness that is the Republican party.

I'm still trying to get my mind around that whole Yigba as an independent centrist thing, though.

"I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion."

I feel like throwing a house party and inviting some terrorists to celebrate our win. Osama will bring the dip....then, we can fight them over here and lay down like the defeatocrats we are.

I want to extend thanks all around to the Fab 5 and God for giving me strength, and a special thanks to el jefe for providing me this thread as a means to thank God and the Fab 5.
Just when they think they have all the answers, I come and change all the questions.
What damage could the lame duck Republican Congress do before January?

And let's also send a shout out to Howard Dean, even though I was originally against his 50 state strategy (I wanted the money poured into key districts), his vision and leadership turned this thing around, like him or not.

Turf, I also give you a salute, while the others have left or remain eerily silent, you have stood your ground. Trust me, 04 is still fresh in my mind and we have all been there.

All I can say is God help all of you if a Dem fucks up at any time in the near future. Yigba, Ernie, etc. will come back with a vengeance and Eugene will do the searching for them.

What's that expression about the ass you kick today may be the one you have to kiss tomorrow?
If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.
Gerk takes a stub at US Politics [Take 1]:

I dunno why the Republicans are moaning so much about this loss. It has become very clear that they now have the "Dems" to "blame" for the mess in Iraq. If rats have the common sense to leave a sinking ship, why not the Republicans? Very slick manouver... very slick indeed.
Its like the kid that knocked over the vase and had it smash to the ground in a thousand peices. No amount of crying or trying to patch it back together is gonna fix it. So when the time comes for accountability, the kid switches places with his little brother. Then Mom comes in to see what all the comotion is about and sees little brother standing there beside the mess that big brother made.
Classic. Very smooth. Those Repubicans are a willey bunch.

[This concludes Gerk's political statement on US Politics]

I see it differently, the Dems will push forth legislation that if the Repubs don't back, they will look like shit in 08. The 9-11 recommendations, prescription drug cuts, minimum wage increase, etc. The Dems now have a major tool (not Gore) and will be putting the full court press on the Repubs in Congress. From here on out, that's what this is about, Congress and 08 and parlaying it into the presidency. Bush will veto some, hell, maybe, all of the legislation, but he is a goner anyway. The Dems will be able to shape and create the agenda now for 08, that's the skinny.

Thats plausible... I think.

But theres a hell of a mess that needs cleaning right now, not in 08. And you can bet your ass the Repubs will spin it (in 08) to look like it was all the Dems doing.

Where the fuck is Yigba with the conspiracy theories when I need him?

Gerk, when a non-American posts on a US political thread it officially makes them a EURO. Not good buddy.

Besides Canadian politics are so much more interesting:

Klein- "I wasn't surprised that she crossed over to the Liberals. I don't think she ever did have a Conservative bone in her body...well, maybe one. Speaking of Peter McKay..."

You just don't get that kinda stuff in the States.

That's classic.

If you didn't charge $11 a pack for cigarettes, I'd move there.

That quote comes from Gerk and I's outgoing Premier of our province. He's done better. A few years ago while visiting a homeless shelter he got loaded, heckled a few bums, threw money at them, and then told them to get a job.

The 11 dollar smokes is a major bummer though.

He bought us a round at a bar once (before he went 'sober' - right**cough**fuck). He was actually a very cool guy. A Blue-collar guy with a white-collar job.

But then again... his administration is responsible for the increase in the cig prices here.... fucker.

A very cool guy indeed. He will be missed.

As for smokes, Peter Jackson, Number 7, Canadian Classic- all still at a somewhat reasonable price. That's if you don't mind your filter coming off now and then.

This thread has been hijacked by Canadians. Apologies Jef.
