BITUSA is certainly "classic," not so much musically(IMO), but definitely in terms of its commercial success(30 million units sold, to date), its cultural impact, and the international phenomenon that the tour became.

This is what the story's told
If you feel like Mudd, you'll end up Gold.
If you feel like lost, you'll end up found.
So, amigo . . . lay them raises down.

"It can only be BTR or Darkness" really? It can only be BITUSA or BTR. Darkness is not as widely known, and in reality, not as good. It's an okay album - sound is muddled, and that kills it as a "classic" This is a for the masses type thing - BTR is his best. BITUSA is his most widely known. It's gotta be one of those two. period.
Depends. I think most Springsteen fans would rate WIESS, Born to Run and Darkness as classics. Outside Bruce circles you'll probably find that the best known - BTR and BIUSA - will be the two that are considered classics. And the critics who want to be considered serious will throw in Nebraska.

For me it's WIESS.

And I would also question whether Blonde on Blonde is a classic Dylan album. For me it's Freewheelin', Highway 61 Revisited and Blood on the Tracks.
"I was tempted by the far right, but then I thought, 'No, let's go the whole hog and join New Labour'."

So what would be more revealing to casual and hardcore fans?

A segment on B2R which as mentioned before was done on the 30th Anniv box set.

A segment of BITUSA with the Nebraska references and material.

A segment on WIESS with the early struggling defining the sound of the band years.
