Apparently my son has ruffled some feathers - let's be clear here:

It was a great show.

If you aren't into signs, that is fine but most people in the pit are a community and support one another and aren't jerks about it.

My son didn't write that because Bruce didn't use his sign. He wrote it because that is what happened.

Don't you think it isn't really fair to the people waiting outside since 11 AM when the line officially started according to the T Mobile center when it became a free for all? We are all in it together and from what he could see most people in the pit knew each other, at least the first 50 or so.

The Arena allowed lining up at 11am. Did they specify a gate or did fans choose the gate to run a line assuming the other gates would not let GA in? The shows I have been to looked like you could get on the rail on the sides if you showed up by 7 and you could be 4 people deep in the center.

You do make a valid argument for bringing reserved seats back all the way to the stage. Then everyone goes to their assigned spot. No lines, nothing to get upset at arena staff or rock stars about.

I don't want to be a part of an internet gang up on the dude's son. I certainly didn't want to start one.  If my own daughter sent me the same text I would likely say something similar to her as I've said here but surely not as harshly.

While I think Chris's son might be a bit over the top on his expectations for shows I again could probably use some work myself on how I communicate with people.

So what would I have said to my own daughter if she texted me and complained she waited all day and when the doors opened it didn't go down fair? I think I would have said something like. "You're still alive, so you did better than 11 people at a Who concert in Cincinnati. Hope you had fun" Love You"

??????

Nobody is ganging up on your son.   You shared the text- not him.

Regarding the pit and being a community-- read the fucking room-

BRUCE AIN'T DONG SIGNS THIS LEG - LEAVE THEM AT HOME.

Please who choose to bring a sign are annoying the hell out of everybody around them, and behind them- and even your hero is ignoring you and also looking a little disturbed at this point.

People throwing ice and shit at you -- good.    Read the room.

A point will come when Bruce will make it clear he is taking signs or looking for signs.  Right now HE'S NOT.  leave them at home.

Also, Bruce is doing his best to minimize ALL CONTACT with people outside of his traveling COVID bubble.   Now, yes a few slips, he drank a beer at a show or two already.   But, you can not have ANY expectation to be NEAR him or the band with band members going down with COVID.   Jesus, get real.

"Don't you think its Fair".....

Your son brought a sign almost with an expectation to jump on stage play guitar with our hero -- and a shit song at that, growing up.   Sorry dude , at least be original.  Maybe if he had wanted to play "wind and the rain" I'd be supportive.  But wanting to play and sing with bruce "growing up,"   Sit the fuck down.

Fair? Life is not fair. And I really do believe your son got the best lesson about life and i hope he was still able to enjoy the show.   You want fair -- go find a tend and watch out for the goat shit.

I have no comment about the pit and the GA line and all that because I am not a pit pig.

20 years old and speaking that way with such an attitude of entitlement -- wow, good luck.

It's not dark yet.

I'm leaving the SPL. I'm tired of being attacked and having to deal with fans who are going against the very things that Bruce has talked about over the years. Community, treating one another right, and respect. Apparently that ain't here.

And no I am not leaving because my son was "a sore loser" I'm leaving because we apparently can't have a civil conversation about anything anymore.

???

you.    Opened.   This.    Pandora box.

there was nothing disrespectful in any of our comments about you or your son

it is obvious that other members of this group don't share your opinions

and if that causes you to take your ball and go home —

don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

this is coming from someone who just returned after 15 years and man. I will tell you.  You think it’s bad now ….

Apple and tree.    I can see where your son gets it

Yeah. People here are pretty nice now. This place used to be absolutely brutal to new people, and everyone else too for that matter.

BRUCE AIN'T DONG SIGNS THIS LEG - LEAVE THEM AT HOME.

Proofreading one's post before hitting "Post Reply" might be a good idea, especially when using all caps. Otherwise, readers might get some rather interesting (mis)interpretations.

"I've done my best to live the right way"

This is it. I don't think you read the same thing I did.

My son gave a review of the show and his experience which was great. The screw up by the venue deserves to be talked about, not shoved under the rug. Did it suck that it didn't go exactly as planned, yes, and could he maybe have chosen some better words, maybe. But he made it clear that he probably wouldn't have gotten a better spot anyways. Also, how would you feel after waiting in the cold all day?

Also, if you don't like signs, that is fine, but don't go attacking my son for bringing one. Everybody was very supportive of it - don't make a straw man out of what he actually said and what actually happened. He never felt like he was the best or deserved to be up there, and not "entitled" - where did this come from? A lot of the people in the first few rows know each other because they travel from show to show or have been to many around the world as was the case in KC. They have all been through it too with signs and wanted to help and were excited. That is called reading the room - not one soul gave him a hard time about it. And unlike some people, he was restrained and respectful about when to hold it up. It was only a few short times throughout the night.

Also, since when did you work for Bruce? I haven't seen any official announcements or anything regarding signs. We can all talk about our speculations and reasons but at the end of the day it is all just a guess.

I have tried to be civil about this and wasn't looking for a fight. I came to the SPL for a common purpose which is the love of Bruce's music, not to fight over petty squabbles and B.S. Everybody should be able to have a civil discussion over tough topics like this without going after one another. This isn't politics.

Signing off.

Bruce has a song about this called the long goodbye

Where did this come from ?
Me.  I’m the one that called your son entitled.      look at what he did.   Look at how  you are defending him.       You started this not us    I can see where he gets it

If I worked for Springsteen any player with a positive Covid test would be on that fucking stage  playing    Or they get docked a month of wages       But we’ve been through this

waiting in cold ?   I’ll see that and raise it waiting in cold at Atlanta greyhound with all the city’s homeless in middle of night    It wasn’t that cold in Kansas City that day   Stfu

sign off already.   Jesus.    We are living rent free in someone’s mind

ok, guys, before your return act arrived on our shores each of you received this message:

Welcome aboard.  All we ask is... please play nice in our sandbox.  We do not tolerate mean spirited exchanges.

Please do not take this lightly!

@Oats.... wow Oats, pot and kettle take your own advice

@ Vodka - oh the good old days of the Pony.  Demon kept things interesting.

Just so you know what type of person we are talking about,  there was a thread regarding "uber" material after Tattoo shamed all the Horders into sharing the good stuff.

DemonTed made a comment something like "get me a good spot and a clear sight line and the vaults will be open in 6 months". something to that affect.

Everybody remember that?

Do you really expect me to take advice from a self described guy in his fifties, following Bruce around, sleeping on dirty couches and showering in gas stations.

This may be more suited for you:

Be on the Show

Want Dr. Phil's advice? Would you like to appear on the show? Send us your story!

Or what about chance or kenrico?

Oh my god, how could I forget them.

I feel like I am in a time warp with this thread. Hell, the one person who has kept this site alive for the last few years of down time is even joining in.

Back on topic, I do see how one could get upset with the way the pit entry was done but given the fact that the pit is tiny and there is loads of room, you are guarantied to be close so something folks should get over quickly, especially grown ass adults.

The sign bit bugs me. I can see requesting a song but wanting to play the guitar on stage is a bit much. I paid to see Bruce and the band, not a fan. Especially when half the band is being struck down with COVID. As either Phish or GW said, read the room.

In no-ongoing-tour-times or no-album-release-days I usually come to the SPL every other day to see what people talk about. In times like these I usually check everyday.

But the more "stuff" gets dropped in the sandbox, the less sense it makes to read all the posts. If I want to listen to arguments... I can have that at home.

I dislike the internet initially because of discussions in boards for music fans around the turn of the century. Hope this place will soon become peaceful again like it has been for the years I have been around here, since 2009.

But I know, I am in no way "entitled" to a peaceful SPL. It's a free country and I can leave the sandbox anytime.

By the way... is everybody happy with the live version of "Ghosts"? I was a bit underwhelmed at hearing the official downloads. But being inside the venue, probably it is a whole different experience. Anyone...?

Ghosts is totally fucking orgasmic in the arena. Hell, everything is at the decibel level of a concert. And that's where people blow it with their opinions. People always equate a song they see on the setlist or hear on a recording without actually simulating the decibel level of a concert. Maybe Oculus can put you virtually at the show in a way your brain can't.  GHOSTS FUCKING ROCKS!!!! Go out to a field where nobody is around and yell this as loud as you can.

I hear the sound of your guitar
Comin' from the mystic far
Stone and the gravel in your voice
Come in my dreams and I rejoice

uh oh,   I think I am going to time out.

nobdy puts GW in the corner

ah yes, Kenrico.

Was he the one that posted about industrial size Shits at an all you can eat beef macaroni and cheese food court in a mall?   He said the had to hook the hose up in the bathroom and just hose the whole urinal.

oh the old days.

k

I don't know who kenrico was or the old days, but I think what you are describing is the fake internet legend called "The Steakhouse Incident." It goes back to the late 90's and I can tell you that someone posts that story on my college football board every year, pretending it happened to them. People fall for it every time. Here's a link. Let me know if it rings a Taco Bell.

http://www.ihos.com/steakhouse.html

It could certainly use a platform upgrade. Never heard of Crowdstack Pro. I just checked the calendar and it is 2023, not 2012. We now have insta, twit, and tiktokka, and if your board can't easily have embedded posts from the top soche sites, that's a real

Posting a youtube is very disorienting here and you can't even see it in the preview pane.

If this board is going to be a promising place for the refugees from BuTtcraX, I would recommend an upgrade to an Invision Board.

That's just my opinion, how do others feel?
