Recorded in October 1974, the previously unreleased track will be included on the upcoming multi-format reissue of Goats Head Soup.

Given its swampy swagger and undeniable star power, it's a wonder "Scarlet" never made its way to a previous Stones release.

Mick Jagger recalls first jamming with Page in Ronnie Wood's basement. Keith Richards says "Scarlet" came about when the Stones ran into the members of Led Zeppelin, as they were finishing up a session.

"They were just leaving, and we were booked in there next and I believe that Jimmy decided to stay," Richards said via a press release. "We weren't actually cutting it as a track; it was basically for a demo, a demonstration, you know, just to get the feel of it, but it came out well. With a line up like that, you know, we better use it."

"Scarlet" joins the recently unveiled "Criss Cross" and the yet-to-be-revealed "All The Rage" among several other outtakes, alternative mixes and rarities accompanying the Goats Head Soup deluxe edition, set to arrive September 4.
