Well if you saved your hard earned cash to spend it on going to this show, thinking that it would be a truly awesome show to end the Euro leg of the tour, you'd be pretty pissed off!
The reverse of the None But The Brave sign had Protection... that's what I thought we were going to get for a few seconds. I nearly passed out with excitement.
My 8th of the tour ( 3 US and 5 Euros) and I loved it.. and I didn't get any I was hoping for and got many I feared. As ever, the show is more than a set list. The Swiss were really into it, but unfailingly polite and no bad behaviour where I was. As good a pit experience as you could wish for.
I would have been extremely pissed at missing the Paris and Oslo River shows if I hadn't hauled my backside over the Atlantic though.
Reloaded: Talking to friends who where in Zürich, it must have been pure fun. One of my friends, with whom I traveled to a couple of shows this tour danced on Roy's piano.

What the hell?? Is there a BBQ happening in the middle of the pit? Jeez
A question for those who were there.
During the concert part of the projected setlist appeared on the screen. I tried to resist but...I couldn't help but peeking at it a few times. It showed Thunder Road before Badlands as the end of the main set; as for the encores, they should have been formed by Born in the U.S.A. and all the other until Bobby Jean, and then This Hard Land. Jungleland was added as a thank-you to the crew and the fans, and then Twist & Shout as an audible.
Then it looked like Kevin Buell was about to hand an acoustic guitar to Bruce when... from my position (seventh row Soozie side) I could see a man getting out from the side of the stage and escorting Bruce out of the stage.
(So no The E Street Band loves you, nor an hypothetic We'll be seein' you).
Can anybody confirm that?
You know, I woke up at 5 a.m. and it had been raining pretty hard over there...
Correct - I stole a look too, I think Backstreets was on there too but I wasn't wearing my glasses until late on as my view was so good. One advantage of the downpour was that the FOS ticket-holders showed up late. The pit was almost empty until around 6pm. I got a wrist band and then took cover until after the storm and then got a great view just a few "rows" back.
I didn't see Kevin with the acoustic guitar though - well spotted.
Was the supposed 10.30 curfew confirmed ? if so, why pick this show to start almost 30 mins late. For all my others he has been fairly prompt.
There would have been space for Kitty's back!
I must correct myself. Bruce said "The E Street loves you" at the end of Twist & Shout.
Didn't see the setlist, saw Kevin with an acoustic guitar, but don't remember when. It was somewhere towards the end of the show, but not at the very end, so it might have been different from what Kalle is referring to.
From my position (6th row, right outer platform) I saw the crew that takes down the stage in waiting from around 10 pm on. Now idea if they were that early for any other show I've seen.
As a final show this was somewhat disappointing for me, especially because I had hoped for something like Helsinki 2012 (which might have been the best Bruce show I ever attended out 0f 70 in total) or at least for hearing the full River album. It certainly was a letdown after Rome, my previous show. Really makes me wonder why Bruce seems to feel some cities deserve a more special treatment than others. Sure it was fun and I love the too brief "We play songs we hardly know" part, but everything else was pretty much standard. Might have judged differently if Protection had been played instead of ´None but the Brave (I saw that side of the sign too and had high hopes for a brief moment), if they had started on time and played more songs or if I didn't have to endure Waiting on a sunny day (well, at least the kid had fun this time) and Bobby Jean. I also could have done without Born in the USA. At least he didn't play Working on a Highway / Darlington County.
Yes, I realize I am complaining on a high level and had I only seen this one show I might have thought it was great. The band certainly seemed to have fun and the audience was pretty good too, but I had been hoping for something special and this wasn't it. Considering this was my most expensive ticket of the tour I think I should have stopped with Rome. That show and Gothenburg 2 were my highlights (out of Coventry, Berlin, Gothenburg 1, Gothenburg 2, Rome, Zurich).
In all fairness, Roll of the Dice made the show a lot better. That was really unexpected and might have been worth it. Not sure yet, will have to think about it some more. There were good moments though, I will try to remember those when I look back on this one.
Thanks for that Redbossfan.
