Thanks for posting and being there!
Fun show.
Fun Wrecking Ball-Tour show.
In fact, it was - in some fashion - the best "Wrecking Ball-tour" show I've seen.
Setlist-wise, it was pretty much like the three concerts I saw in 2012/13
(Gothenburg #1,#2 & Mönchengladbach).
But the overall experience of the night was more coherent. The core band had a much tighter sound than the big band. And the sonic impact of the songs did not change much during the whole of the night.
It was fun to meet friends (Big up, Mathias!) and make new friends, and to experience the show with my baby mother and the new "Bruce-Tramp to be", who will be born early December and has experienced his first Bruce show already. (Don't worry, I will not teach him to sing WOASD and dress him up and make a fool of him at a show in 2023.)
But as much fun as it was... something was missing.
There was not much of an "emotional charge" during the show.
Gothenburg was meaningful because of the relationship Bruce has with Sweden, and songs like "Drive All Night", "Frankie" and the first "Jungleland" after Clarence's passing.
Today just felt like any other Rock'n'Roll show.
A great one, a fun one. But not much more.
I have to admit, I do not belong to the Rock'n'Roll-fraction. I prefer the soul/pop/rock-sounds "No Surrender", "My Love Will Not Let You Down", "Meet Me In The City", "Save My Love"...
to stuff like "Working On The Highway", "Darlington County", "Seven Nights To Rock"...
tonight was more of the latter. There was a "Detroit Medley" sign, I was afraid he would pick that one too. (By the way, I do not get some of the signs. "Outlaw Pete"? seriously?)
He did a great "Backstreets" tonight, and even though I don't like the Rock'n'Roll tunes, it all was fun to dance to, and just enjoy.
Maybe Germany is the wrong country to see an emotionally charged show?
His voice was superb tonight. I am happy I was there.
Bruce had a great voice tonight and did some great guitar solos. The setlist was better than expected, but of course some river songs were missing...
It was strange, that he almost did not talk during the whole evening, only two or three sentences. Steve was kind of uninterested at times.
I second what Ralf is saying about emotional impact. Did not happen. Only exception to me was the middle part of backstreet, where he repeated "till the end" five or six times.
I enjoyed pretty much the rock songs like Adam, Night, Candy's room, and so on. 41 Shots was a nice first for me.
Interesting watch: dvddubbingguy was standing and filming 5 meters away from us. After one hour security found him and was taking him out of FOS area...

Thanks for the review Mathias, interesting to read your thoughts.
So they got to DDG, wonder how often that happens? What's the FOS area?

Thanks Ralf, also interesting to read your thoughts...let's hope he does step it up in the emotional charge in Gothenburg atleast!

Thanks for the updates and pics Desa How'd you find the show my friend?
The good news is that Bruce is in good voice and the band is now a well oiled machine.
Highlights for me: Saint In The City, 41 Shots and Backstreets.
On the other hand you've got a decreasing number of River tracks on this European leg (only five songs played in Berlin - even Two Hearts was kicked out) So the initial idea of this tour has been totally thrown out of window at this point and it has turned into a song after song after song rock show with no time for e.g. storytelling.
Maybe it would be a good idea to reduce the setlist a bit to give the show more room to breeze.
So did I have fun? Sure. But the last spark to raise this show on another level (like it was in Frankfurt '09 or Hannover '13) was missing for me.
Thanks Desa, there's certainly a theme happening.
Seems the shows are really for the masses now...

FOS means Front Of Stage. It's the zone directly in front of the stage which is separted from the rest of the GA by a barrier.
Until 2009 you could enter FOS with a normal GA ticket (as I did in Frankfurt that year) on a first come first served basis.
IIRC this has changed with the Wrecking Ball tour in 2012. Now you've to buy extra tickets (of course with a higher price than GA) to get access.
Hope my explanation is not too confusing.

Right ofcourse. Perfect explanation, thanks.
Haven't seen that section here, only GA.

In the USA, we call this the pit. You don't pay extra but you must come early and line up for the lottery.
