Original notes from the person who made this project:

This volume comes from another batch of cassette tapes and includes the really, truly, complete Backdoor tapes: all 26 songs, not only 23. It does not include also four songs from the VCU Gym on October 30, 1971 (which is not the Backdoor). Disc one is sourced from Tinker's original reel tape and the remaining three discs were recorded to cassette tape with mics in the audience. The taper can be heard at the beginning of disc 4. I have edited lightly, removed some noise, leveled without compression and done some minor EQ, that could be done with the frequency response available on the recordings. There are some great songs here, so enjoy.

Pedro, a question for you.

1) is the 4:17 running time for "Bright Light, Big City" noted above a typo error? The recording, as found on the boots 'EXIT THRU THE BACKDOOR' or 'RESURRECTED' is over 12 minutes long. What's the story here?

Sorry, it's my mistake . it's 14:17. I'll edit the post to fix it.

well, check this : http://www.brucebase.org.uk/gig1970-bsband.htm

this Non Uber set is the really, truly and complete backdoor tapes.
the Uber set # 42 it's the incomplete backdoor tapes, "only" with 23 songs.
we added the two songs left:

Down To Mexico #4
It's All Over Now, Baby Blue

So, in my opinion you must choose these set, the really and truly complete backdoor tapes.

I just want to ask you why you mention at the text the following ?

"It does not include also four songs from the VCU Gym on October 30, 1971 (which is not the Backdoor)"

well, dimitrius, I can explain.
One day, Tatoodad made a post saying that he had a bunch of backdoor tapes to identify and asked help. I sent to him a pm,offering my help and he never answer me. I though, by his silence, that he had already identified very well all the traks. I was waiting for the Uber release. when the set was done, I was surprised because the set didn't match with my version. On the Uber release we have 23 songs from the backdoor club and I just released UBER Backdoor set- for some crazy reason, includes the 10-30-71 show on the first CD mixed in with the songs from Richmond.

that's the reason of this release, to make the things clearly for all.

despite that, honestly I want to thank Tatoodad for his efforts, but in my opinion in this version you will find the 25(6) songs in better sound quality.

The vine has been changed, so go check it out the Vines Section.

A new update:

The set now includes, on one DVD, audio in 3 formats - uncompressed .wav, FLAC files, and MP3s (for your IPOD). It has instructions for use. It includes pictures for the stand at The Backdoor Club (from February 4, 1972), extra MP3's are included, for you to hear some original and alternate versions of the many cover songs (that Bruce was playing at the time) by other artists. It also has some alternate versions of his original songs. It includes all the artwork you'd want for a great presentation of the set in a 4 CD jewel case, a fun slide show, and comes in one self-launching DVD. Very cool!

Well, in a few days, we will be mailing out the set.

The response to this set has definitely been far less that I would have expected. As this is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade to anything else available.

here is some preview of the artwork that Night, a great friend of us, made for the set.

God i love spending countless of hours listening multiple audio sources and doing detective work to just to find out hints of correct track order, and not to forget which source is better than other. I got involved making this set later than others, and the work that has been done to make this set possible is incredible.

Reading some of the comments just reminds me why i retired making releases (public) in first place.
At the last minute, Zeke supplied with 10 tracks from his 1st gen tapes (the ones that are included on "Exit Through The Backdoor")and was able to use some of them to upgrade this set.

In the other version there are multiple version of little pieces of songs attached to other pieces. Nothing is connected. Their quietest piece has way more hiss than the noisiest track we have.

Thanks Zeke.

And to avoid confusion. My copy included same songs that was on ETTB bootleg, but just from much much lower gen tape(s).
I really have to agree with Zeke on this here. He's a great guy, offering to do whatever he can (thank you Zeke), also Pedro- who really helped a lot with both Richmond 72 sets (thanks Pedro) and NIGHT, who hopped on board and made awesome artwork for both sets (thank you NIGHT).

I (along with these great people) put in hundreds of hours to make the best set we could for the entire community.

WOW! If we could ALL work together, along with others like myself who have had tapes in a closet for decades, and REALLY get GREAT music out for all of us to enjoy-- and stop the bickering-- it would be beautiful.

There are others out there who are working to do the same thing we are, and getting LOTS of great stuff out- for all of us. We appreciate that.

If anyone else is interested in doing the same, we're willing to help- so contact one of us.

Thanks- and enjoy the set.

OK- you caught me, the big hypocrite.

You must be the person who changed my profile here from a statement made on Greasylake-- which I admittedly stated that I should not have made, but was just a bit upset that I was told that SPL was a good place to setlist watch, and fortunately I found that greasylake was better for that purpose.

Fun is fun, but this is VERY serious business trying to know accurately what the next song is- and I had absolutely no idea what songs was being played.

I will apologize again. There are plenty of great people on all the boards that make it worth having to put up with the jerks and assholes.
