A student who wrote his dissertation on Bruce Springsteen gave a copy to the rocker on stage at his Edinburgh gig.

Nathan Collet, 22, made his way to the front of the 73-year-old singer's Murrayfield concert and managed to catch his eye by holding a sign saying: 'Can I give you a copy of my thesis'.

The delighted fan had made the 186-mile trip from his home near Liverpool to hand the star a copy of his research paper titled: "Brilliant Disguises: An Analysis of Masculinity Through the Works and Life of Bruce Springsteen".

Nathan told the Record: "I've been a fan of Springsteen since I was 10. When he announced the tour I decided I was going to try and give him a copy of my dissertation myself.

"For a whole year I've had people saying to me 'you'll never be able to get it to him, you'll never get close enough'. During his set he read my sign and pulled an impressed smile.

"Later he was going past again and I held up my dissertation and he took it. He had a look at it on stage and said it was very nice before putting it down near the drum kit."

Nathan had taken his dad along to the gig and said the pair celebrated the 'surreal' moment like it was a 90th minute winner.

He added: "We were jumping all over each other and cheering. We celebrated like it was a 90th minute winner.

"I was on cloud nine for the rest of the show and the concert was phenomenal. Nobody puts on a show like Springsteen."

Some 52,000 music fans flocked to the Dancing in the Dark singer's only Scottish show on his 2023 tour in the capital.

Alongside the E Street Band, Springsteen performed 29 songs from all decades of his career, including classics such as 'Glory Days,' 'Born in the USA' and 'Dancing in the Dark'.

ps: I think we should ask him to also submit it there, to the Stone Pony London.

We can all grade it.  Besides we have to know more about Springsteen then his professor... right????
