A good question. I've given this a repeated listen, and it is something like "Don't ---- my face, don't ---- her face. Cause I'm stranded on the wire on these streets of fire". Or?

May we have a NATIVE English speaker listen to this, please?

He is definently singing something, but the WAY he sings makes it very hard for me to understand.

That's what I've always heard. I'm not sure which version of "come" he is using, and maybe that's why it's not printed in the lyrics.

HE himself ought to know what he's singing, and hence know what should be printed?

Is he writing about this one in "Songs"? I haven't got that book.
After repeated listeneing the first line is clearly "Don't lookin my face".

The second line is much harder to understand. I think he says "Don't!" followed by a long pause, which leads me to believe this is the end of the first line.

And then he says "I can't look in your face".

The verse is about strangers.
Strangers don't look at each other too closely.

After the "Don't lookin my face", he sings "Don't" and pauses (for dramatic effect?) and then "don't" one more time followed by the line I'm unable to understand except for the "your face" at the end.

Man, I really don't think he has EVER made a better album! His albums are so different with their unique qualities and hard to compare. WHAT a loss it would be, though, if THIS album was NOT in his catalogue...!
