Thanks for posting - loved this line:

"And the violin-powered ?Oh Mary Don?t You Weep? demands to be listened to at full volume, with Bruce simultaneously channels Tom Waits and history of gospel (yes, even in digging through the folk songbook, Bruce dug up another Mary. The man?s an animal!) "

As a frequent lurker and infrequent poster on SPL, my take is that the negativity quotient was higher here than BTX or GL. Some posters seemed to pride themselves on outdissing one another. Doesn't keep me from positing positive stuff while ignoring the negativity.
Now the man who put you here
He feeds his family in rich dining halls . . .

Funniest part of it is the tried to outdissing one another without having heard a single note of the album.
That?s impressive..in some fashion.

I’m a first friday live shows-aholic and i'm proud of it

?Maybe it would have been better if he had gone out and hired the best folk, fiddle, horn and string musicians to experiment with instead of hiring his fucking wife, her slutty friends and other Jerseyites who are about as folk as Michael Bloomberg to play on this heap,?

LOL!!! Who do we have to thank for this quote?
Man the dope is that there's still hope

Well, I would suspect that the SPL was more negative/pessimistic/critical than the other boards; we usually are--it's the sort of people we attract <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />But that doesn't mean there were more negative than positive reviews here.

I think that SPL response was definitively, though not overwhelmingly, tilted in favor of the new album; people who criticized it were attacked. In fact, I remember CarolJude making a lengthy post to the effect that simply because she didn't like the new album was no reason to call her (insert insult of choice here).

And I think most people who posted about it, towards the end, had indeed heard the album, after it was posted online.
