Have been listening to this since Eugene was crafty enough to bury a link to the goods on some innocuous thread, a couple of weeks before the release.

Don't know what it says about changes to my musical taste buds, but I can listen to every song, every time they come up at this point. I haven't been able to do that as long as I can remember, listening to any artist's new release.

Way more plays than D&D, probably more plays than The Rising. More than Joad, HT or LT. I'm really getting worried.
i just can't get in to it. i like some of it, but don't think i can sit thru two hours of it. hell i haven't listened to a full boot or the CD all the way through yet. i get bored. i remember singing Erie Canal and John Henry in 2nd grade music class, now here's Bruce doing it... i'm glad some people like it, but it's just not for me. i'll pass on going for the first time in our 'relationship.'

[/]I can respect that. It's nice to see Bruce looking so happy though. Some great musicianship going on.

[]It's simple; I didn't like it at first, and now some songs have grown on me. I always loved Mrs. McGrath, but now I like 2-3 other songs as well. But this is still by no means a great album by Bruce standards. [/]
It's not that you didn't like it at first. You don't have to be a fool to dislike this music, but that you made these hilariusly stupid remarks about the bandmembers' playing abilities. These guys are good as hell and everybody here knows it. You don't have ears but you sure have balls to come back after dropping your pants like that.

Hey kid, you think that's oil? Man, that ain't oil that's blood

I was 'worried' about this release too - so much so that I didn't listen to it for a while, since I knew I was going to see him at Jazz Fest.

The show there was transcendent. Even if the whole album and band only exist to fulfill that moment, it was worth it.

The music is much more rock than Devils & Dust. Don't know how much the actual record will stick with me, but that performance will. I don't know that any one here knows how the record will change for us over time - at least any one who is open.

You can't find any artist who has been more reviled, more times, for changing than Bob Dylan. And he's almost 65 and has gone through yet another revitalization, at least in his shows. Nowdays, I go back to some albums from his less appreciated period - you know, everything after 1966 - and am continually surprised at how much good material is there.
[]On the album, Mary, Mrs. McGrath, and Erie Canal are the only ones I like.

The rest are discards for me. Supper, Henry, Money,

Jesse, Prize, Froggie, Shenandoah, and especially Okie Home are just flat out unlistenable.

And WSO is so divergent from all these other songs, it just doesn't tie the set together as a title track. Jacobs Ladder should have been the title track.

But all I want out of this is a solid one disk compilation, and with the songs I listed at the top, that's well on its way. [/]I...I agree 100% with El Jefe? Wow. I do.

I also think in the Oslo show, the songs from the album rocked more, they just appeared "fuller". As you said, i dont think i will play the album that much, possibly the boot, but its still the concert that sits in my head.
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
[]I?d rather have a hippopotamus stand on my left nut than listen to you pussies whine about how Bruce has lost all touch with the majority of his loyal fans. WTF do you think the word loyal means?

loy?al adj.

1. Steadfast in allegiance to one's homeland, government, or sovereign.
2. Faithful to a person, ideal, custom, cause, or duty.
3. Of, relating to, or marked by loyalty. See Synonyms at faithful.

And no way does being loyal make one a "Brucefag" Give it a fucking rest. [/]

Hallelujah, amen, praise be to Allah and any other fucking thing you can say to underscore a point well made, and made well. Who gives a fuck if he's lost touch with his fan base? And doesn't it inherently imply that those who don't move with him are not Springsteen fans, but fans of certain types of music that Springsteen produces? I feel a whole fuck of a lot better when I'm listening to his music than just about any other type, any other time ... nuff said.
Poor man wanna' be rich, rich man wanna' be king, king ain't satisfied til he rules everything
Come on this is a good album for what it's worth.
Not a born to run or a river, but as good as most things Dylan's done since the 60's (my opinion)
And way way better than those terrible human touch and lucky town albums. It's upbeat and it's nice to be able to play Bruce loud again (unlike devils & dust)
The sweetest songs don't last too long on Broken radios.
U have to understand, Bruce was always good at adopting his music to his voice, not the other way around... Again He did it perfectly.

Also, I find myself that nothing cheers me up better than listening to John beat his steam drill down, and Ted yelled @ by Mrs. McGrath. Great Stuff. OK It's not Bruce and E Street Band Stuff, But It's BRUCE! Nuff Said!
I had skin like leather, and the diamond hard look of a cobra!
[]This has to be the worst piece of work that Bruce has ever released - even worse that Devils . . .
[/]

U serious? NE TRUE BRUCE fan would not compare his old stuff to "Seeger Sessions." It's a new direction, And personally, I like it. He's having a good time on the album, which is what it's all about!

Wow! Can you believe that Bruce is going to open up the vault of Seeger Sessions? We are so blessed. [/]

Yeah am so happy about shelling out more cash (since purchasing the original dual disc version) to get the extra stuff on this additional release.
I think maybe this will be the first time I'll not "par-take".
I wonder, is this the Sony bastards or Bruce???

Bruce takes a crowbar and prys opens the vault of his folk ensemble covers of his hero's covers, and this is your attitude? Seeger's still alive, you know. This is huge.
