Chris Martin, Beck, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, E Street Band keyboardist Roy Bittan and Jakob Dylan of the Wallflowers formed a one-off supergroup this weekend, covering songs from Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd and the Beach Boys at a Malibu benefit gig for the Boys & Girls Club.
Smith posted a brief video of the all-star collective jamming to Beach Boys' "Surfin' U.S.A." from the event. "My new boy band," Smith joked of the group.
The gig also featured the group working their way through Springsteen's "My Hometown," with Martin on lead vocals, as well as Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb,"Pitchfork reports.
Martin also performed songs with both of his kids, Apple and Moses. With his daughter, Martin played piano while Apple sang Ariana Grande's "Just a Little Bit of Your Heart." Moses also appeared onstage to sing Twenty One Pilots' "House of Gold" with his father.
This wasn't Martin's only time performing with kids in 2016: In April, the Coldplay singerattended a benefit gig at San Monica's New Roads School, where he and a band of 14-year-olds paid tribute to Prince with "Raspberry Beret."
