I'm not a doctor, and don't play one on tv.  But I really suggest, for your health, that you purchase Philly 9/7.  It's the best part of my commute every day.  The opening 12 songs or so are just about the best opening of a concert I've ever heard.  He's loose, the band is tight (not too tight...but loose enough to make it fun), I can't say enough about song selection....I could listen to Saint, Growin' Up, Lost in the Flood, Kitty...hell, all of it....over and over and over again.

my 2 aspirin,

Cheers,

J

Julius,

That was a great show, all ten were.  I actually prefer the DC Download and DC's setlist to 9/07.  In person I preferred Philly's sound but on tape it's a toss up or DC has a slight edge.

The first 13 tracks on both dates are very similar with two exceptions, Summertime Blues and Sherry Darling in the two and three slots which set the tone for a summer concert in DC.  I thought he would be more political in DC and play some of what he played in Philly but he didn't.  No Death to My Hometown, No Jack of All Trades, no Magic songs. Bruce sometimes surprises us  and this was one of those times.

What I liked better about DC was the second third of the show, tracks 14 through 23.  It just seems to rock a bit more and was definitely a summer show.  That said, they are very similar and we're talking tastes and miniscule degrees.  As I wouldn't have wanted to miss either one.

I hear you...middle part of the show...maybe DC gets the nod.  But the opening section...no comparison.

NYC Serenade/Does This Bus/Saint in the City/Growing Up/Spirit in the Night/Lost in the Flood/Kitty's Back/E Street Shuffle/Incident/Rosalita/Fever/Thundercrack.

Imagine he put out a live album 42 years ago.  There it is for you.  And this was just the first 12 songs of 9/7!  He was making a Philly statement.  I could listen to this (and I do) over and over again.  It's so superb, I just don't have enough superlatives.  There wasn't a single song in that dozen that he phoned in.  I've heard him phone in Fever.  I've heard him phone in Incident....Kitty....Growing...all of them.   But he was present in every moment, for every note.  I love this set.  It's the download I've been waiting for.

Well, until Winterland.

Actually the first 14 tracks from both shows have 11 tracks in common.  They were more similar than you think.

Check it out.

I said the same thing to my husband when we left that Philly show.  Probably the best stretch of music I have ever heard from Bruce and the band hands down.
