2016: Bruce Springsteen at MetLife Stadium
The Boss’s trio of marathon stadium concerts celebrating the 35th anniversary of “The River” were each record-setters: at the time, they were the three longest U.S. concerts Springsteen had ever played. But the best of the bunch was the third night, which clocked in just over four hours and kicked off with a magical stretch of songs only from “Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.” and “The Wild, The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle,” plus some classic covers — nothing written after 1973 was played for the first 90 minutes. Bruce diehards could go to 200 concerts (as some have) and never see a set like this. It was pure rock conviction from the Jersey icon, who felt invincible this night.
