Lol, my favorite tweet reply: "This had better be a prelude to an album announcement and not just Bruce on one of his pissed up motorbike drives."
It is Earth Day. Might have something to do with that. I hope I am completely wrong.
From an Viriety interview in 2017:
Do you still plan to release the solo album you’ve been talking about since before “The River” anniversary tour?
Oh yeah, I’ve just been caught up in other projects. It’s kind of waiting for its moment. Good music doesn’t go away!
Someone who’d heard it said it sounded like Aaron Copland.
I don’t know if anybody made that particular connection. Really, that record is influenced by Southern California pop music of the ’70s.
Like the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac?
No — Glen Campbell, Jimmy Webb, Burt Bacharach, those kinds of records. I don’t know if people will hear those influences, but that was what I had in my mind. It gave me something to hook an album around; it gave me some inspiration to write. And also, it’s a singer-songwriter record. It’s connected to my solo records writing-wise, more “Tunnel of Love” and “Devils and Dust,” but it’s not like them at all. Just different characters living their lives.
...
You’ve done so much looking back recently, between the book and “The River” anniversary tour and now this Broadway run. Any thoughts on what’s next?
I suppose the [solo] record that I haven’t released. It’s not topical at all — topical writing at the moment doesn’t hold a lot of interest to me. I really got out a lot of what I had to say in that vein on “Wrecking Ball.” I’m not driven to write any anti-Trump diatribe; that doesn’t feel necessary at the moment.
Can somebody give me a few excamples of "Southern California pop music of the ’70s"
Stampe, I could be wrong, but this is what comes to MY mind. Some mix of these two types.

Truth or fake? We'll see.

I wish!
When you right click the pic with the black horse and "Search for picture with Google" you can easily see, that this pic is all over the internet for years. Especially on arabic sites. So I think this is very likely fake.
LOL Another "Arcade at Night."
I am doubtful that Bruce would release an album in which his face or image is not on the cover. Going over his career album artwork, I also highly doubt that the album's title would be featured in a larger type script than his name as artist. A horse as the primary image on the cover, is just horseshit. It's a fake. Let's move on. Bruce would never allow his work to be compared to manure.
Official Facebook page just posted this:
New album 'Western Stars' coming June 14. “This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements. It's a jewel box of a record." - Bruce
Using the horse photo above. Kinda strange to use a stock image.

Oops!
BTW, I was thinking alike...
Looking forward to a first listen! It's been awhile since we had a whole new album.
Reading about the new album and realising that I was 100 times more excited about Endgame than I am about the new album.
I will probably watch Endgame more times than I will listen to Western Star. And Endgame runs for 3 hours.
I wondered how long it would take before somebody decided to piss all over the announcement of a new album. Won't be long before someone complains about the twang and the fact that it wasn't recorded in the 70s.
If we weren't complaining about music we haven't even heard yet, this wouldn't be an honest-to-God Springsteen fan site.

Maybe he's out of inspiration!?

True
Hello Sunshine is now on Spotify!
I'd prefer a Nebraska/BITUSA box to anything produced by Ron Aniello with "sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements."
First time this has ever happened - new release by my favorite artist ON MY BIRTHDAY!!
Happy Birthday to me!
He must have some sort of real connection with the little time he spent in the desert southwest. I am really happy he is putting out new music (even though I may not connect with it).
" The musical arrangements include strings, horns, pedal steel and contributions from more than 20 other players including Jon Brion (who plays celeste, Moog, and farfisa)..."
Now that I know the album is featuring music created from a Moog and a farfisa, I know it's going to be a classic Springsteen rock album! This is going to be interesting.
The above being said, you guys may be right about the cover. See Bruce with his cowboy hat below: The other photos aren't stock unless Danny Clinch put them on the web early cuz that's who took them.
If you've had your eye on social media this week, you've known something was in the air -- and not just from Taylor Swift, but from our man Springsteen, who shared a series of images from way out west, clearly meant to tantalize. Shot by Danny Clinch earlier this year, on a trip to Joshua Tree National Park with Springsteen, they definitely add up to something... and today we find out exactly what. After plenty of new-album rumors, it's official: Western Stars is coming June 14. This morning's press release: |
Bruce Springsteen's Western Stars New Studio Album Out on Columbia Records June 14Bruce Springsteen's first new studio album in five years takes his music to a new place, drawing inspiration in part from the Southern California pop records of the late '60s and early '70s. The album was recorded primarily at Springsteen's home studio in New Jersey, with additional recording in California and New York. Columbia Records will release Springsteen's 19th studio album on June 14. Western Stars will be available for pre-order on Friday, April 26. "This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements," says Springsteen. "It's a jewel box of a record." The 13 tracks of Western Stars encompass a sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope. The song "Hello Sunshine" and a video will be released just after midnight ET tonight. Ron Aniello produced the album with Springsteen and plays bass, keyboard, and other instruments. Patti Scialfa provides vocals and contributes vocal arrangements on four tracks. The musical arrangements include strings, horns, pedal steel and contributions from more than 20 other players including Jon Brion (who plays celeste, Moog, and farfisa), as well as guest appearances by David Sancious, Charlie Giordano, and Soozie Tyrell. The album was mixed by Tom Elmhirst. Western Stars Song Titles 1. Hitch Hikin' 2. The Wayfarer 3. Tucson Train 4. Western Stars 5. Sleepy Joe's Café 6. Drive Fast (The Stuntman) 7. He has garnered 20 Grammys, won an Oscar and a Tony, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, received a Kennedy Center Honor, and was MusiCares' 2013 Person of the Year. Springsteen's memoir Born to Run (Simon & Schuster) and its companion album Chapter and Verse were released in September 2016, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November 2016. His historic 236-show run of Springsteen on Broadway at Jujamcyn's Walter Kerr Theatre from October 2017 to December 2018 also yielded an accompanying soundtrack album and Netflix special. |

Yup, mea culpa big time. LOL. I may grow to like it. I know I will love the music. Always do. Hey, maybe it's a scratch and sniff cover!

lol, been there done that. Now that we're in Spring and heading full blast to summer my Yankees despite all their injuries are hanging tough.
Regarding Hello Sunshine... It sounds like it was made for a movie or... maybe an Outlaw Pete outtake?
