The photo that became the cover. Bruce near Central Park:
Fingers crossed
😳
House of a thousand guitars is a Willie Nile song.
I'm sure Willie would live the royalties on that one ...
LOL
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Surprise release of the 1st single today? Oh boy keep your fingers crossed...
If the tracklist is true, this is a kinda High Hopes 2. Disappointing?
the hidden track on the album - yes I'm bored
Letter to You single available now on streaming
did anyone found it on any streaming services yet?
The little flourishes from Max stand out for me on this.
Sounds promising. I was worried it would be another acoustic album but Letter To You sounds really good.
Was hoping it would be a cover of the Shakin Stevens classic...
OMG, they did this pre lockdown?
Steve always dresses like he's onstage. Would love to see him play tennis or something to see if he still wears the same clothes.
sounds pretty nice to me
I like that he got the whole band together at one time to record.
Sweeeeeeeeeet
video is 3:59
track listing is 4:55?

Yeah fa sure!!!!
Sounds like a letter you'd write but never send, maybe read it to your therapist.
Bruce’s new studio album with the E Street Band, Letter To You, will be released on October 23. A rock album fueled by the band's heart-stopping, house-rocking signature sound, the 12 track Letter To You is Bruce’s 20th studio album, and was recorded at his home studio in New Jersey. Listen to the album's title track and watch the new video here.
“I love the emotional nature of Letter To You,” says Bruce. “And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs. We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.” Letter to You includes nine recently written Springsteen songs, as well as new recordings of three of his legendary, but previously unreleased, compositions from the 1970s.
Produced by Ron Aniello with Bruce Springsteen, Letter To You is Bruce’s first time performing with the E Street Band since The River 2016 tour.

I was referring to the covid precautions. Hence a lot of groups are doing these things virtually. I could never imagine Bruce cutting an album in 5 days, could you. . I didn't see Jon there. Maybe he couldn't risk it?
Maybe they recorded pre-Covid, or maybe they all got tested before arriving. Tilly will have all the details soon. Also Landau is in the first few seconds of the vid.
I really watched it this time, listened to it the first 5 times. I wonder if the rest of the album will feature the stripped down E Street Band. No Suzie, Jake or Charlie. Maybe this was Wednesday... their off day.
Western Stars is my favourite release in recent years, could this be another smasher? Well the first track we have heard has got me smiling

Well we know there will be a few rockers. Roulette, 1000 Guitars, Janey and the other couple. Unless he's really changed the melodies which I doubt, after all it's E Street.
Don't forget tonight live stream on youtube from Boston College (midnight in the UK)
Bootleggers roll your tapes.
I have not been so excited about a new release since 1988.
Roulette was just me finding an anagram of Letter to You, no secret track
The NFL Football game may interfere with that time frame... just sayin'.
I still think Magic was his best work since 2000 . In the confines of my mind, I have it even with The Rising.
@ralfsturm posted:x2 ... Very happy they recorded it all live.
Me too, tough to argue with that one especially if you're a fan of the band.
Yessssssssssssss!!!
12 SONGS LISTED 58 MINUTES TOTAL ....
Playing this one song over and over. Happy Happy Happy.
Only I hate to wait for 43 days now!!!
I'm sure it will leak before then.
we should start days until Album Leak sweepstake
I wonder if Jake was called in for any of the songs. I fear not since the song that was released was ripe for a sax solo and there wasn't one.
He’s mentioned in the press release, so presumably he’s on some tracks
Cannot wait to hear Janey needs a shooter!!
I hope Janey is based on the River version. That was one killer outtake.
I can wait to hear his prayer song.
I get the feeling that we will get a live release from this tour before we get another Rising Tour release (this post won't age well if one comes out today ).
@DenverBrian posted:(this post won't age well if one comes out today ).
It's things like this that make me spend my time here rather than on any other board.
Have a great weekend everybody...

It says no hidden track! Skipja?k was just haiving fun.
so why was it mentioned with songs that are on the Album?
Just flat out tell me please. My brain is tired from finals week two weeks ago and can't think straight to save my life right now. On top of that I have a wild fire raging 2 miles away and we just got power back after 2 days.
Look up Sumner and Bonney Lake Washington wildfire.

So here's just telling you - Skipja?k posted that it was the secret track on the album as it can be formed from the letters of "Letter to You"! Oats didn't realise that and mentioned it with some of the other tracks.
Clear now?
Sorry to hear about your troubles @ESTRTBNDFAN . Hope you can stay safe.

Yes, and now sad! LOL Roulette is one of my old time favorites. every sine an lp bootleg I bough in the late 70's had the reporter (I assume anyway... yes I'm aware what that does. haha) asked him "What does Rock And Roll mean to you?" and he replied "A steady job or somthing" hahahaha
I thought when I posted did I miss something, and you said look back that it was your way of saying, yes... it is a hidden track! Even though I saw Skips little note saying no hidden track! LOL
You never can be sure with our bunch.
I feel a ban coming on........

Thank you....That was from my front yard Tuesday afternoon. thankfully , that was as close as it got to us. but it was cary for a few days. That was 2 miles away.
Out my back yard. 1st picture was yesterday Morning second one was just about 20 minutes ago. the arrow points to the missing hill that's less then a mile away and covered by wild fire smoke from Cali ,Or and ours!
the smoke is covering much of Seattle and south. We're about 45 minutes south of Seattle.. Just outside Tacoma.

Glad that sucker turned away or was beaten down before it got to you. Thank God. Stay safe my friend.
Musta missed him, all those shaved heads look alike.

Thanks Brother!
We definitely have 1 eye on the hill side across the river for us for sure! It's only 400 yards away. It's not on fire.... Just watching to make sure it doesn't erupt!
glad you are ok todd
Im going to have to listen to this again.. I like most of it, but that high note he tries to do is confusing me.. trying to be country..lol

After reading the Rolling Stone interview I’m absolutely thrilled to get my hands on this album. “Play it more E-Street”, more lyrical piano, more organ, glockenspiel, sax etc.
janey in a “near identical arrangement” than ‘79...
Ghosts out tomorrow!

Yeah saw that posted on YouTube, together with a picture of the Castiles 🤔
“Count the band in then kick into overdrive / By the end of the set we leave no one alive / Ghosts runnin’ through the night / Our spirits filled with light…” Ghosts out tomorrow!

I just really hope Janey is as rough and “dirty” as it was. If it’s too polished it may take away from why I like it so much.

That song was written by a wild young man 50 years ago. I am wondering about why he chose it now, when he might come across like a creepy old man. I hope he has a plan.
@Mando posted:It is amazing what you can do on LSD.
haaa Who would have thought of that?
Reminds me that Springsteen spent 2 days working on that song April 3-4 1979
Clearmountain spent another 2 mixing
and it finally saw the light of day as a b-side in 1988
Just like The Promise, got dumped in favor of newer compositions
There is nobody like Bruce Springsteen, greatest songwriter of 20th century
No not Irving Berlin or Gershwin, they are 2nd and 3rd at best
Bruce has the luxury of more choices for his albums --- Many more!
@Skipja?k posted:Western Stars is my favourite release in recent years, could this be another smasher? Well the first track we have heard has got me smiling
His engineer told me Western Stars had two current songs, the rest are from 2010. Details to follow
You can bet I hope it is....
The guy behind the drums also teased a little bit:
The new record has “incredible, incredible stories and wild, wild playing,” Weinberg said.
“If you like the album ‘The River,’ did you?, you're going to like Bruce’s new record," Weinberg said. “Keep you eyes out for a band from New Jersey called Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band because we will be back!”
