To celebrate the actual completion, and imminent mailing, of the first "massive" freebie I offered (so long ago that the winner probably thinks I forgot to send it).... I have another for you all. smile

Gerk's MASSIVE U2 AUDIO BOOT LIBRARY GIVE-AWAY

There are "some" rules, however:

- All the shows are compressed with either FLAC or SHN. If you dont know how to use it, or what it is, dont bother playing
- This is open to ANYONE that wants to give it a try
- There should be no issue with mail costs, but if there is, I want someone to win that is not opposed to helping with that
- The winner must be a fan of U2
- Members from other boards are allowed to play, however they need to register first (complete with location info) on this board
- While not a requirement, I would like to see the winner offer up some freebies in return (good karma)
- Gerk holds the utmost right to change/alter/re-arrange/edit/delete/etc all rules and what-not as these are his boots to do with as he pleases

Its quite simple really. Simply post in this thread. Anything that will get my attention. Whatever the hell you want to post. EVERY post will count. So if you dont wanna play, and you post here to say so, you are considered to be playing. Got it?
Last time, one guy wrote a song/poem in honor of me... and he did not win. To be honest, I felt bad that he didnt. That kind of thing is an excellent example of attention getting (you can also take a look in the "Off-Topic" area for a lot of examples of "attention getting"). So sharpen up those wits and take your chances (just dont all be writing songs for me, ok?)! It really is open for everyone, and the winner could be very well be you!

I was at that concert, right next to the stage. Just before U2 came on, the woman next to me fainted. Everyone seemed to ignore her so I dragged her to the back of the hall. After that, I could only get to within about six rows of the stage. During one song, Bono threw himself into the crowd, exactly where I had been standing before the show started. mad Since then, if anyone next to me faints I just stand on them to get a better view.

My last U2 concert, the day after the re-re-election of Margaret Thatcher as prime minister; boy, was this show a tonic. Bono changed the ending of Bullet The Blue Sky to "...run into the arms of...Margaret Thatcher" which prompted me into a vociferous rant. A couple of women in front of me turned around looking slightly appalled, and I just knew they'd voted Tory. And that it was their first U2 concert.

Anyway Gerk, that's really a roundabout way of saying that I have no need of your generous offer but, as you got me reminiscing about things I had half-forgotten, if you could help me fill in the memory gaps for those two shows, that would be just marvellous!

June 1992. U2 was to play the Ahoy in Rotterdam and the evening prior to the show me and my friends went to check out the place. Some fans where already in line, but we decided to get some sleep first. But not after we drank some beer with the crew. My friends had tickets and I didn't. Tickets where going for about $500,- on the black market then, not the money I had te spend then as a student. I was lucky enough to get s free ticket from the crew, up to this day I still don't know why exactly, but I did.

i have a friend here, that is a massive U2 fan, albeit she's a kiwi (aussie's love taking the mickey out of kiwi's and vice versa) anyways basically if you'd like to help me out and throw me a couple of shows on a dvd, and i'll prep them for audio cd, then i'd be in your debt, let me know whether i can offer anything in return

Hmmm.... not as much interest in this one as I was lead to believe, apparently. Too bad. frown

I will leave this one open for the next few days. Someone is gonna "win" (still hate that term).

Oh - and to address the "Barenakedladies" comment... PFFFTTT! Its a cool little boot. Recorded at a record shop. Those guys are so funny and talented, and this boot really shows that. So, consider it a bonus, or trade bait... for some reason, I burned it to a disc full of U2. Go figure.

Who "won"? That depends on how you look at it, I guess. I decided to "award" LC her shows, as well as jozzeke's. I will send paulC his Hanson requests - if I can find them. thunder_road is going to get some of the boots so he can get laid. Sixer gets the "lion share" of the rest, cause he has a cool name. Thats it.

I need the mailing info from all I mentioned here so I can get these out to you ASAP.
