That the Army would allow him to enter the NFL draft, giving him all indications that he'd be able to play, and now pulling him back to active duty is simply dumb. David Robinson did so much as a recruiter for the Navy as an NBA player. Though Campbell is hardly football's equiv to Robinson, he could also do a lot of good as the Army's ambassador to the NFL.

Senior Leadership completely screwed the pooch on this.

It would have been fine but a baseball player at the Naval academy wondered why he didn't get the same opprotunity. we all know that football is the most high profile sport but the Military needed to treat all academy athletes in the same way so they had to pull him back in.

I think it's a damn shame.

The thing is, I'm not concerned about Campbell. From his comments, I can judge that he'll be a helluva an officer.

My concern is with the Army itself. It had an opportunity to itself some good, and in the end, making itself stronger. I would hope you would share those feelings. But I guess you spit too.
