Hey, I said my hometown. Ha. That's another Bruce song I love but it's not about my own hometown even though you can say really it's about everyone's hometown. I mean, if you're an Amerian.
Because is one of the first Bruce's song I heard a long time ago and it reminds me of a long lost love. It's a town full of losers but I'm pulling out of here to win. Well, maybe.
I think it is perfectly structured song. It has beautiful lyrics, and it is full of imagery and love-lost feeling. It also encapsulates everything that is best about Bruce - his sympathy for the struggles of people trapped by things beyond their power. The beauty and heartbreak of love. The tiny glimmer of redemption. And I especially like it because it is not dressed up in a fun upbeat rhythm that tricks the unwary into thinking that it is a "fun song".
very simple for me.The Promised Land is my motto in life.Badlands precisely tells the story of my life. and there's no way i could ever leave "Valentine's Day" behind,it recalls me someone i knew a long time ago.this song makes me cry.
for some reason this verse reminds me of a girl i used to bang years ago when i was 16,
Put on my jacket, I ran through the woods I ran till I thought my chest would explode There in the clearing, beyond the highway In the moonlight, our wedding house shone I rushed through the yard, I burst through the front door My head pounding hard, up the stairs I climbed The room was dark, our bed was empty Then I heard that long whistle whine And I dropped to my knees, hung my head and cried
we'd do it at her sisters place on the next road over from her parents house, and we'd cut through a wooded lot on a trail from her parents to her sisters. dont know why that verse reminds me of those days but it does. i guess its the running through the woods scene? i dont know
