Watching this made me really appreciate Bruce all that much more. While their music is great, it seems like (except for Walsh) they just replay the album version of their songs. No energy or anything. I could not even get through the entire show.
Well... don't forget 2/5ths of the core were replaced and they had to learn all those songs. Sorta like when Jake and Charlie joined E Street.
I was at Vernon Downs Raceway with Frank M in 2012 to see Bruce and we were lucky enough to be at the front, exactly in the corner of the riser where the stairs lead down to the front of the crowd. A young man from Syracuse U. had a great sign made up by the art students of a roulette table requesting same. He asked me to whow it to Bruce. Bruce comes down the stairs, he couldn't miss it. He sees me holding it and leans in to my ear. He whispers, that's a great sign but the band doesn't know that one yet.
But I agree Deacon Frey and Vince Gill as good as they are don't sound like those they replaced. A couple of years ago I saw an Eagles tribute band in PA that sounded just like them. To my ears those guys sounded more like the Eagles of old than this group.
That being said, I enjoyed watching and listening to this very much. they're different but still very good.
