Bruce was great.
My elation and sense of patriotism is making my heart pound and fill with joy. I feel like our country will be back on track, we'll beat this virus back and once again unite. I can picture a future with Black, White, Red, Brown, Yellow, Republicans, Democrats and Independents... all of us joining together, compromising becoming the Union our forefathers envisioned. All of us working together to create this. I pray this comes true.

His voice was in great shape. The vibrato at the end of phrases really rang out. He's got the hair on the sides cut super short.
I wish I shared your optimism Oats. I have lots of "hopes", I hope this is the end of lies being treated as facts (at the scale we saw), I hope this is the end of religious exemptions legalizing discrimination (this goes for churches, hospitals etc...), I hope this puts us back on the path of true climate action and health care for all (medicare for all), I hope for a justice system that is more just for the poor and minorities.
With Biden being on the very conservative and religious end of the Democratic party spectrum, his campaign funded by large corporations profiting from a lot of bad stuff and with enough people like Ted Cruz still pandering to the worst of us, I fear the worst.

Good luck that the Trump dynasty is not coming back! I am puzzled about how many people supported him and how many people still believe the election was stolen. Having watched the past four years from Germany it has been a real nightmare.

The Democratic party better wake up and not act or legislate the same ole, same ole. It needs to move toward the middle which is what it seems like Pres. Biden is trying to do.

Trump dynasty play book taken from 1930s Germany, and remember, both Trump and Hitler got elected! The technique of repeating a lie over and over until people can't remember what the truth is probably old as human society. It is terrifying how easily people can be mass-hypnotized in this way.
It shows what a true mentally ill lowlife Trump really is (which most of us know), but the nightmare part is that 30% of the voters were willing to purchase his snake oil.. again. Hopefully, this is looked back on as a learning experience, and laws are passed to yank the plug in the future when POTUS loses mind mid-term.
The insurrection (which I watched live on CNN) is one of those things I will never forget. Though lives were lost, it may have shocked many Americans back to reality, and also doomed the hopes of Trump and extremist hate groups to further their cause. Many have been arrested, thanks to all the videos, and the DOJ (which includes the FBI) will be busy for many months investigating and prosecuting perhaps our nation's greatest enemies.
After the November election until Jan 19, USA had no president. This was extremely damaging to country, and surely cost many lives in a time of extreme national emergency. I pray he is convicted in the upcoming Senate trial and banned from ever holding office again, and then arrested and inprisoned for betraying the people of the United States of America.

Oats is rather optimistic, his post is a breath of fresh air. It is very good for USA that Biden was ellected, for some of the reasons you mentioned. If he was as liberal as some of us are, it would be harder to make progress towards bringing America together. His experience in Congress and with foreign affairs will also serve him well.
How can we not be enthusiastic about that shitpile of executive orders he signed, only hours after being sworn in?
