Not the Christmas benefit night I saw, but a great video for those who never got to attend any of the shows.

Q2

…. Anyone remember - was it this week or a different year when the Asbury Park fire department sold the only authorized licensed t-shirts for the shows?  I remember the first year they were outside the venue and ‘busted’ with all the other street vendors because they hadn’t coordinated sales with Bruce & Company, but the next year they had a table inside the venue and exclusive to sell shirts to raise funds.

Q2. 🎅

That 12/8/03 show was the one I went to, on a Monday night. It was the rescheduled show cause one had been snowed out two nights before, on Saturday night. Many tickets to be had at the door for a $100. Great show, and watching Danny during Kitty's Back will always be a nice memory.  Met some RMASers after the show.  Stayed at the Bates Motel across the street, and caught a train at 6am to NYC to go to work the next morning.

I had a 4 wheel drive Suburu legacy in 2003.  That car could drive through snow, mud anything.  Ally and I picked up PeterNFCa in Fort Lee, NJ. I couldn't get across the bridge due to traffic backed up from the snow storm. He taxi'd to our meeting spot and we headed down the Tpk  to Asbury Pk for the first show which as Ivan explained was postponed. We passed many abandoned cars along the way. In my eyes it was one of the best Bruce trips in my memory. Our SPL brother and my great friend Hey_Eddie joined us.

We met and saw Bill Chinook get ready for a set down there at the Pony. Sadly, he fell ill soon thereafter and moved to Maine where he later took his own life. In 2010, a remastered version of the Dime Store Heroes CD was released. The CD contained four never before released live tracks from his 2003 concert at The Stone Pony. One thing struck us as we watched them warm up and rehearse for the gig.  He was very hard on his band, a real task master.

We lined up for Bruce's shows on the boardwalk.  They were great shows but the way they played a band member could be off stage for a bit of time as others played.  We met Nils and Danny in the back during one set.  Ally was in her glory.  A most memorable time for all... back in 2003.

I was as well at the 12/8/2003 show!

I benefited from the postponement to Monday. So I got the ticket for the Monday show on Sunday waiting in line on the cooold boardwalk.

12/8 is also my birthday, so it was a realy nice birthday party for me...

Most impressive song for me was Because the night sung by Nils with Bruce on rythm guitar listening carefully. I guess this version on the three Dec 2003 nights was the predecessor for Nils guitar solo in BTN in later Bruce tours.

What i also observed was Bruce standing next to the stage in the first part of the show, chatting with other musicians and with people in the front row. It was a very different atmosphere compared to the big concerts in a stadium. More like a village festival with an international audience, if that makes sense...

12/07 was my daughter's b-day.  I agree, it was really cold on the boardwalk but it was worth it just to put that big smile on her face.  One of the best  3 night stands in history for me.  I spent it with two of my best friends who happen to also be SPL brothers, PeterNFCa and Hey_Eddie.

We got tickets for that Saturday xmas show. I think we got thru on the Denver ticketmaster phone line when they went on sale.

Then we get an early December blizzard. Just our luck.

No show for us!!

It always looks darkest just before it gets totally black.

Stay calm until it's time to panic.

The whole gang would have been together before we became a gang.

Yeah, scary stuff for those in the midwest getting snow. Here in the DC region the snow appears to have missed us and we will be getting rain that will freeze when it hits the ground. That'll cause flooding on the roads. We were not travelling until after the new year.  Stay safe everyone.

Nugs and Bruce, Inc. are too distracted with the 2023 tour pre-orders to bother with releasing something we may actually want.

I'm not sure, well... as a matter of fact I am sure Bruce is not involved in this very much any more.  He may get emailed or texted that this is what we are releasing, what do you think, Bruce?.  He'll give a thumbs up and that's it, end of story.

He's 73 and probably doesn't remember the individual shows like we do.  He certainly isn't listening to them like we do.  So... who can blame him?
