Yes - both in CPH and G?teborg there was a local guy arranging the entry into the pit. And both were very specifc about telling people that ANYBODY who ran instead of walking would have their wristband cut. That did the trick grin

But in G?teborg it helped to be friends with Garry. No need to get in line and still you got the best place.

Hehehe - in 2006 they told us if ANYBODY ran they would just close the pit and let nobody in there - that did the trick as well. wink

Folks...

If this is the real audio we're seeing, I think there is something fishy.

Check the screen and the audio from 6:10 to 6:30; it appears more than a bit out of sync, but the most scary part is at 6:28 where Bruce's lips appears to say "Oh Baby" - but there is nothing in the audio to support that, and he looks to be scrambling to catch up the words right after.

Please someone tell me it's my computer.
First time I ever came close to crying at a shows was last night during Bobby jean and no ... it wasn?t because I think it?s so horrible (he actually puts a lot of soul into it at the moment) but because I knew it was the last time I saw the E Street Band perform right in front of me. Makes you sad.

Thanks to the legendary E Street Band for an incredible weekend and 2 amazing shows.

I only have one thing left to say:

IT WASN`T BETTER IN ?78 !

you can just about hear something, I'd guess that the mic in the phone was overwhelmed and didn't pick it up.
Great, great show, have not decided yet if this or the second one 2003 is best.
It felt right away that this is going to be something special, both the band and the crowd was more on their toes from the beginning, also very clever by Bruce to play Hungry heart so early in the show, that really set the tone for the rest of the night!
I'm on fire was very beutiful and my favourite, so cool when he sat on his chair out on the catwalk.
Drive all night was off course a very rare moment and it certanly looked like Clarence cryed whilst playing, very emotional!
Twist and shout, what to say, he had already talked about it earlier in the show but of course he said, no, we cant play that one, we are not allowed to play that one etc etc.. BUT when American Land started and the time was only 23:40 i said to my sister, T&S IS coming after this one, now i am sure of it.
When it started the whole arena exploded more then i even thught was possible, i honestly think there was not one person in that arena that was not on their feet dancing, jumping and singing, totally crazy! Even if i have heard it live before it NEVER stops to amaze me how it is possible for 1 man to totally control a crowd with almost 60 000 people like he does.

Also have some pictures from the show, will post later.
Only thing i recorded was Thunder road, the rest of the night i was to busy just enjoying the show to the fullest!

Thunder road
Clarence was definitely crying during Drive All Night.

first the big screen showed a close up of him playing the sax solo (the first solo), and clearly a tear was rolling down his right cheek.

after the camera moved away, and Clarence had finished playing his solo, I saw him wipe both his eyes.

sometime later during the song (it lasted almost 10 minutes!) Big Man played the sax once again, and this time tears were rolling down from both his eyes. heartbreaking to watch.

one of the ultimate rock moments in my book.

can't wait for the bootleg to surface.

Her and me we headed south...

HALLELUJA !!!

You got 2 pics of SPLs own coffee drinking crazy guy The Rising aka The Hens.

Guy in the white shirt - first pic he?s on the left side and on the second he?s on Bruces right. You know him - you know who he are.

Bruce is probably laughing because he saw his sign which said: THE WAY.

It was bound to be played, a banker, it has relevance in Gothenburg, and if you have seen the Amnesty Video, then you will have some idea of how it went down in Gothenburg tonight, it was a joyful celebration, and a song that typifies and ended perfectly one of the truly great performances, I have been priveledged to have witnessed.

Like Cherry Top points out, in Gothenburg, Twist & Shout has a special meaning to the band, since it is "The Stadium Wrecker". The arena, Ullevi, was severely damaged in 1985 at Bruce's concert due to people jumping up and down. You can read about it at the entry for Ullevi on Wikipedia.

If things had gone really wrong, it could've ended up as one of the worst disasters at any rock concert in history. But now, when "nothing" happened (I mean, there were no casualties), I think Bruce is proud to be able to say that his audience wrecked a whole stadium. He certainly made a joke about it when he received the Polar Music Prize in 1997, saying that the prize money should maybe go to the rebuilding of the Ullevi arena instead of to him (since the prize is a Swedish one). And in 2003 when they played Twist & Shout at Ullevi, he shouted "We did it in 1985, and now we're going to do it again!"

So, I bet Twist & Shout rocks anywhere it's played by Bruce and the E Street Band, but due to the history of this song in Sweden, there's no wonder both the band and the crowd are a little extra crazy for it. That's my feeling anyway, and I agree with Cherry Top: I feel truly privileged to have been there. The best weekend of my life! (And after Ullevi 2003 I thought that nothing would ever top those two nights)
Oh my god! Bruce and the rest of the E streeters put on a great show this night, could really feel their enegy.

Were at the catwalk to the right of the stage (standing two feet away from who I now learned was The_Rising, thank you for helping me get on my feet when I had trouble getting up while we were waiting for the show to start wink ) and had a great time troughout the concert, felt like a good audience to me.
Can't complain about the setlist, the finest moments being Night, Summertime Blues, Backstreets, Roulette, Drive All Night and Thunder Road (great version leading straight into BTR).

Drive All Night was the greatest concert moment ever for me. Such a rare song, and such a wonderful performance... It was really beautiful. I felt a bit silly crying while they were singing "Don't cry now", but the song was so beautiful and standing there next to the girl I love, knowing I'd sure drive all night just to buy her some shoes, it was a very emotional moment.

It was a pity that they had set the start to 9pm, since the curfew in Gothenburg is midnight, so the show only ended at 28 songs. The concert ended a few minutes before midnight both friday and saturday, so they definately had to make them a bit shorter than previous shows.

Too bad I couldn't get in to the show friday, someone had sold me a fake ticket, so I had to stand outside, listening. I've dreamt of hearing Sandy live ecer since I started listening to Springsteen, and now I missed, what probably was, my last chance. But who knows...
