I took everyone's advice and listened to it first. Bruce's voice is good. the song has a lot of repetition.
I liked it..not loved it. I then watched a couple of snippets and stopped. The End.

So YES I've listened a few times as well now .... I'll just say there a lot great songs that meet the "Soul Music " moniker .... This Isn't one of them
I did not ever like that song when it first came out so I haven’t bothered yet….. next, please…..
I agree with those who think it isn’t a particularly good song and Bruce’s mannerisms are annoying. Also the direction is a bit pretentious. When the album was announced, I had high hope for this. With the two videos released so far, my expectations for this album are plummeting. One of the songs listed is “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted,” originally done by Jimmy Ruffin. Bruce is going to have a hard time matching this cover version by Joan Osborne from the great documentary on the Funk Brothers, Standing in the Shadows. I saw this originally at its premier at the Mill Valley Film Festival. The audience sat literally in shocked silence for a couple of seconds after the song ended, then broke out in cheers and applause—at a movie screen.

Holy shit, thank you for sharing that link, I have never seen that before. It's like she has all of Motown and Joplin running through her veins in that performance. I just hope, whatever Bruce does, doesn't come with a video performance.
Maybe we can look forward to a surprise old fashioned ‘Tunnel of Love’ type romantic ‘B’ side or two…

Who's the curly haired white guy on guitar down front? He looks familiar as if I saw him in Asbury Park or elsewhere.
Here she is singing Heat Wave:
Here's another really nice one:
Heard It thru the Grapevine - Joan Osbourne with The Funk Bros
The guitarist is Joe Messina. The curly haired bass player is Bob
Babbit.
The Facebook fan groups are over the moon on both of these songs. There is nothing by him they would not like.
Just tried to watch. Not my taste. Stopped after a few seconds.

I was thinking that when I looked at the comments under his official page release. He could release an anniversary issue of Pony Boy, featuring rare 10 different draft versions of the song and they would eat it up.
