The Boss is Broadway bound.

Bruce Springsteen will make his Broadway debut at the Walter Kerr Theatre for an eight-week run in the fall, The Post has learned exclusively.

Sources say Springsteen will do a pared-down version of the set he usually performs in huge arenas and stadiums all over the world.

“He wants to play a smaller house,” a source at the Kerr says. “He wants to try something more intimate, and he likes the idea of being on Broadway.”

Dates haven’t been finalized, but Springsteen will likely open in November. He’ll perform five times a week. Jujamcyn Theaters, which owns the Kerr, gave him a sweetheart deal he couldn’t refuse: no rent for the eight weeks.

The 975-seat Kerr has been empty since the musical “Amélie” closed in May.

“He’ll keep the lights on in the building, and they’ll sell gazillions of dollars worth of booze,” a source says.

Springsteen will sell out the run in a minute, though whatever he makes will pale in comparison to the tens of millions of dollars he makes on tour.

But as one music source says: “He’s got all the money in the world. He can do what he likes.”

Some insiders believe Springsteen’s Broadway gig may be a curtain raiser to another project — turning his best-selling memoir, “Born To Run,” into a musical. Several producers, dollar signs dancing in their eyes, approached Springsteen about adapting the book for the stage after The Post reported he was interested in the idea.

It could be a blockbuster along the lines of “Jersey Boys” and “Beautiful: the Carole King Musical.”

But that’s a long way off. In the meantime, you’ll be able to see the Boss “live and in person” at the Kerr this fall.

It shouldn't be long before some reporter asks either Bruce or Landau and we will find out for sure.

I guess the ticket scalpers are looking forward to the pre sale for this...

If this turns out true I really hope that JLM makes sure that the real fans have a chance to get tickets and that the prices are not insanely high.

And I really keep my fingers crossed that he'll release a new record that he can present at these shows.

where did it all go wrong?

If solo, I'm imagining something very similar to Devils and Dust with the exception of a lot more stories by Bruce and maybe some accompaniment by other musicians.

If not solo, that would be really interesting.  I believe the University of Kentucky's Music Dpt. Performed an Opera of his tunes.  I'd luv to see a Rock Opera similar to a Meatloaf album only with Bruce's classic anthems and based on some of his characters.  Spanish Johnny, Eddy, Frankie (maybe we'll find out his or her gender?), Mary (we can see if the curtain sways or waves?)

In all seriousness, I'd love to see and listen to that.

Bobby-G, me and the other lucky fans that have lived in the area.  We've gotten to see Bruce in intimate settings before.  Just think how many die hard fans have not.  It's got to be a dream for many of them. This news  real or fake, it does get the Brucie Juice flowing.

Brucie Juice!! Love it...although not sure I would ever want to see a definition of exactly what that is!

Actually Dave Heman the disgraced WNEW DJ first coined the term during his morning show in NYC.  He played Bruce at the beginning of his show and every listener woke up to a bit of Brucie Juice.

Cheers,

Hazy

My pal Ed's humor knows no bounds and sometimes need to be explained usually by him to me.  However in this case...

Speaking of the above NY Post Headline:

But a few learned types fell for its dark humor. Literary scholar Peter Shaw, writing in The National Review, cited its compelling “trochaic rhythm . . . the juxtaposition of two apparently unrelated kinds of toplessness conjoined sex and death even as they are conjoined in reality.”
