It was already going to be a very long year for the Jets.

Time to relook at the Jets WRs for the fantasy draft...
Am I the only one who thinks he might struggle in NY?

Old man (relatively speaking) set in his ways, new system. Will he work hard enough to "own" the Jets offensive system? I'm not sure.

Pennington to the Bears? How about it?

(I'm a neutral observer. In Vince I trust.)

It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive.

Ohhh all the defensive players in the AFC are licking their chops. One of them could be the one that sends the great Favre to the injured and re-retiring hall of shame.

This move sets the Jets back atleast 4 years. They have no chance of winning a Super Bowl in the next 2 years and then when Favre retires to join another team
the Jets will not have a QB.

I think Brett is more of a visual learner so he probably will just ask the Patriots for copies of their tapes of the Jets offense.

Ha! smile

It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive.

Two days ago Favre said he wanted to play for Green Bay because the Packers gave him the best shot at winning a Super Bowl. However, he felt he was not wanted in Green Bay. He wouldn't even consider talking to the Jets. Favre had his sights set on GB or Minnesota all along. When he said he has the itch to play again, he wasn't talking about playing for the Jets. Favre is looking a little foolish, in my opinion. He should have taken GB's offer to report to camp and compete. Having said all this, he will be missed in Cheeseland. He did a lot for the franchise. He just forgot the franchise comes first.
Pro-Life or Pro-War? Make up your mind.
Most Packer fans would still rather see Favre in GB and let the Jets keep their pick. Brett's desire was to play in GB or a NFC North team--so he could stick it to the Packers. That's what was driving his decision to come back. Landing in NY with the Jets wasn't exactly what Favre had in mind. I can't help but wonder how long before his desire to play again wavers.

But the packers weren't going to allow him to be the qb even if he competed for the job. I cant imagine him holding a clipboard.
And the fans would have gone crazy if Rodgers didnt produce.

It is best that he left.
Im shocked to the Jets because it is nothing he knows.

I feel for Rodgers, he is in a no win situation.

And clearly, they had a shot otherwise.

I think that's your best line ever on SPL. Please tell me you wrote it.

There are some who feel GB was only going to go through the motions and let Favre "compete" for the job. But, if he clearly was the better QB (and he would have been) and did not get the starting job, it would have sent the wrong message to the other players, and certainly Packers management was aware of this. I truly believe Favre would have won the starting job back and Rodgers probably could have lived with this. Clearly, the last thing GB wanted was Favre hovering around on the sidelines with Aaron Rodgers constantly looking over his shoulder.

Actually, you might be on to something here. The Bears could launch a new line of teddy bears to reinforce their image--the Pennington Bear, soft and cuddly--sort of a take off of Paddington Bear. Think of the marketing revenue this could generate.
