It's always nice to dust this one off and give it a listen.  Aside from Bruce's passion pushing into our souls throughout this, the part that always  strikes me is his breathing technique.  Back then they didn't have the technology to take those deep breaths out of the recording.  It's very cool.

Oats

Heard this one before but it’s still great.

Since my early days of listening to Bruce -  and therefore flashed with his ability to compose a sometimes complex, sometimes simple piece of music - I dreamed of a way to mix his work on my own. To mix all the different track recordings of the fantastic guys involved by myself. Listen to isolated bass lines from Gary, the beautiful playing from Roy and Danny. Sometimes so subtle you discover these astonishing 1-2 or 3 notes in the background after 10 Or 15 years listening to that song and flashed that you didn’t recognize ‘em before. Maybe that’s part of why his music ain‘t aging? I don‘t know...

somewhere on a boot was an instrumental of Zero and Blind Terry, which comes pretty close. It’s so rich and clear of this  hidden beauty I mentioned before.

I second that!

I would not go so far as to dream about mixing his songs on my own. I would totally suck at that task. But to have multitrack tapes... Steves funky guitar in "10th..."... One may dream!

Was this the version you were thinking of?
