I am not going to post the blu ray on ABMS or Jungleland or other because Ollie does not want it and I respect his choice and his great work ; the result is awesome.
I bought the first version of the show then the updated version with new audio
So I find myself with both versions and I sell the first one, that's it.

So let me see if I get this straight.

You bought a illegal, pirated bluray from a guy who asked yoy to not upload it to ABMS or other sites.

Then the same guy makes a new version of the bluray, and you buy that one.

 

Then you still, out of respect for the guy you give your money to of course, still can't upload it anywhere but selling your old illegal, pirated bluray on ebay is fine for both of you?

 

Fuck it, I'm banning the lot of you.  it's been fun but really, I will not have sales on the SPL, silvers and vinyl bootlegs is a gray area that I personally will allow for but burned bootlegs,  fuck no.

That's a pretty empty threat though, I'm pretty sure Ern suffers from permanent brewer's droop. I'm more worried about him perpetuating the stereotype that Scandinavians are humourless. 

So, was DVD banned too?

I believe one of them was banned for openly including a link to a bootleg bluray he was selling (naughty, naughty) and the other (DVDDG) was banned for NOT openly admitting that he sells bootleg blurays of DVDs he promotes on this site. It appears that you can include links to bootlegs you or others are selling providing they are vinyl or silver disk versions. 

 

In the good old days, any reference to selling bootlegs including links to other sites would result in the offending post(s) being removed and the person(s) censured. Now it seems a banning order is the minimum punishment. Charlie6310 was arguably stupid, naive and wrong to post what he did  but to ban him was completely over the top. Strong censure and an explanation of the rule here would have been adequate. 

 

Unofficial publications are opening advertised on this site with impunity and some members have also openly sought contributions for the purchase of NYCBC bootleg DVDs. Correctly me if I'm wrong but DVDDG has never openly offered blurays for sale on this site. The only time money is mentioned is when others have tried to goad him into admitting that he sells blurays. Sure, he can be a pain in the arse and sure he over promotes his videos and sure to some he is not a likable person but to apparently ban him for NOT admitting that he sells blurays is completely over the top. I suppose if he admitted it  he would have been allowed to stay.

I am not a frequent poster but I agree with what Mando says. I should declare an interest because I have bought a couple of DVDDG BDs and I enjoy watching them. I have never met DVDDG but it seems to me that he is so passionate about what he does that he finds it difficult to respond diplomatically to critical comments and so he ends up annoying people. Perhaps a cooling off period rather than a total ban would be more appriopriate.

 

Admit it - you're just trying to get into the runaways secret club by bitching at how this site is run. You gotta suck a lot more of c*** to succeess - trust me, I've tried.

 

You're partly wrong but I can't prove it, 'cause those posts are gone. That was before the board update and unfornataly you can't find posts posted before the new board (my first post when using the search engine is jan 26th 2013: "Welcome to the new SPL". I  remember getting into a heated discussion with DDG because of his posts about him selling his stuff. He argued that it was ok 'cause he was spending shitloads of ££'s on hard- and software. And I was like: I don't care - DON'T SELL BOOTLEGS ON SPL! 

 

If only the mods had a backup of the old board and posts who could show this guy to the SPL.  

 

But it's true that you get in bad standing with commercial bootleggers if you share their stuff. Way back I bought the 3 Shea shows in 2003 and was one of the first to receive them. I started trading and sharing. When I ordered the xmas shows, I was probably the last one to receive them. When I finally got them they were all over. They kept track of mails and board alias'.

 

DDG is the same: he puts a gun to the head of all his buyers: if you posts my stuff (that you have paied for) ANYWHERE I will not release any more stuff.

 

But really: who needs anymore? We got 3 (or is it 4) pro-shots WB shows. And - no offense Germany - Hannover was great for the ones at the show but even for the 95% die-hard bruce-fag is was just another show like all the rest.

 

And for what it's worth: Danish TV filmed the entire 2012 Roskilde Festival show (multiple cameras and hd-sound) and right now it's just sitting on their hardrives while they're talking to Bruce's management dissussing if and how it should be broadcasted. I hope it ends up on an official release or gets a danish TV special sometimes.

I'll make one post now that I've calmed down a bit.

 

Charlie was banned entirely based on this thread.  I agree I may have over reacted there and I will sort that out.

 

DDG was banned based on his record, previous communication between the mods and him on his advetisement.  That communication basically said that in the future he would only be allowed to post his ranting video posts if they were related to a upload to JL, ABMS or similar sites with the video he was advertising.

 

For a while this worked perfectly, he didn't post any more videos and then he found his loop hole.  He made downscaled DVD's that he released for free while he still could run his business of the BD's.  When he hijacked this thread to let us know that the previously leaked Paris BD that happened to be the same disc that was linked to on ebay here was old and he had made a new one with better sound.  No intention of letting people get that version without paying of course, just letting us know that he had done yet another best video ever of the Paris show.  Once that happened I just refused to take it any longer and banned him.

 

Oh, and to clarify my previous post about silvers and vinyl I am thinking of old out of print releases.  In my mind that's collectibles, in most cases surpased in quality by later freely available versions anyway. I don't like promoting new bootlegs for sale, no matter the label.

Shabby, perhaps you don't realise it but your post is pure hypocrisy. There are any number of threads on this board which are advertising bootlegs for sale or from persons seeking to buy bootlegs. Are all posters on those threads banned? Here are two examples:

And yes, we do remove and have removed in the past loads of posts where people are pushing their own ebay auctions or blatantly trying to use the pony as a buy and sell list.  There is no buy and sell secton on this forum and there shouldn't be.

Since you asked about the ban, I do agree with you, the ban of Charlie was rough and that has been removed.  I still stick by my ban of DDG tough and will continue to do so unless I get "voted of the island" by the other mods.

I don't recall seeing DVD guy posting a link to his own sales, at least not in the past few months. And certainly not above. I also don't recall seeing him link to any ebay auctions, but I could be wrong. And in another post above you make it perfectly clear that DVD guy was not welcome to post information about his new releases in the form of his youtube snippets.

 

I have no idea who any of the guys touting Godfather records are. For all I know they could be Mario Puzo himself. Maybe you know better. And even you can see (irritating phrase isn't it!) that touting someone else's product is exactly the same as touting your own.

 

I don't really feel that strongly about this, other than a vague annoyance that I won't have notification here anymore that another free (free) DVD has been released by Olli. It's the inconsistency that irritates me, and you are being inconsistent, protestations to the contrary notwithstanding.

I don't think it is worth to discuss single links to ebay auctions. That is not the point (at least not for me). DDG changed this place to an advertising platform for his business. Although he maybe did not post a direct link to a shop or something, everybody knew what it was about. And in the end it was simply too much, it really made me sad what was going on here in terms of silly advertisement. 

 

I guess Charlie is another story. He is quite new (if Charlie6310 is his first account), so a "yellow card" is enough from my point of view. My respect to Shabby, that he took back his too harsh decision to ban Charlie.

What never seize to amaze me is that people share Bruce Springsteen bootlegs all over the place. Jungleland, ABMS and so on.

That's the SPL and we love  this place.  Just think what it would bevluke without this place. The mods do s difficult job extremely well, I tip my hat to them (well I would if I had one).
