Finally getting around to watching this, and it's very sweet so far. But...did anyone else nearly pop out of their chair when the kid says he listened to both cassettes (BITUSA and Darkness), and then he quotes "The River" while "Backstreets" plays in the background?  I know there are 2,000 other things I could be worried about, but holy continuity error!

I must confess, I haven't watched it start to finish, just bits and pieces.

It's very heartfelt and sweet, and captures that moment in time very well.  I just wish the director had run his script past a fan for vetting.  I wasn't in England when tickets went on sale in 1988, but I find it hard to believe you could have walked in, gotten Springsteen tickets without standing in line, and walked out in 30 seconds.

yup, the summer of 88 was as easy as this for Birmingham and Sheffield in some areas up north. the hottest ticket that summer was actually for Michael Jackson. I got lucky and got both, however, I did have to  queue up overnight in line outside a local radio station for the Jackson ticket at Aintree

things were just easier in the days before the Internet and Ticketmaster. As long as you checked the music press (NME / Melody Maker) you knew when tickets would go on sale. So a trip to the local record store (Our Price / HMV /Tower / Independents) etc you could buy them on ticket release day without much hassle if you were prepared to get in line. Don't get me wrong, there was demand it's just that it was easier IMO to get if you were a fan.

It might be the worst movie I have ever seen. It might even be the worst movie I will ever see.

Yeah, I just could not get past the Mamma Mia portions of the movie (the singing in the streets with everyone joining in).  It was like a second rate play and just all around horrible.  I loved Bend It Like Beckham so I was expecting something along the same lines and while it followed the same, parents don't accept me but in the end they do theme, it fell so far below the quality of that movie.
