Seeing the footage from Portland which was filmed from behind the stage I wonder how it is to watch the show from there in real life.

So how is the experience? Is it as enjoyable as from other places in the venue?

My man

Thus far, every show has been behind or the side.  I have shared some video.

Reason:  I am traveling the country and the only "true" expenditure on something has been the tickets.  Even with that, I won't spend more than 150.00. (shekels ! )

I enjoy it.

1). You are by distance, closer than what you have people say are the "best" or "great seats."

2). It is a wonderful secret.  Nobody wants to sit behind the stage.

3).  "Restricted view". ??  No.  There are only two points where you will have a truly restricted view. Those are the two points at the sides where the cables go up to the rigging.  That direct seat is a totally obstructed view.  I had an obstructed view in Portlant because of a guy that was 6 ft 5 and weighed easy 340 pounds.  His arms were like an albatross.  I'm good with a human who resembles a mountain, but stand still Laddy!!!.    I Mean he was singing to nobody extending arms across my three empty chairs and my view.   ugh.

4). Things you don't see.   Do you know how much Jake (especially ) interacts with the crowd behind?   How much the horns do dance steps or the back up singers joke with each other?  Those little looks that Steve, Gary, and roy give to each other?  Roy will do a wicked fill and glance over to Curtis with a smirk of "pretty fucking cool eh?" Nils especially "lives" off Max's Highhat.  He will turn and just become mesmerized by the highhat and just sway and groove.  Gary will do a  fill and Steve will glance over with raises eyebrow ala Silvio. Those little things to capture are really cool.  Also, When Bruce fucks up and forgets his Mic during out in the street, and says to Jake, "i fucked up I forgot the mic" people in the back see it clearly- from the front you just see Bruce's back.   Also, there is a lot of communication that goes on between Bruce to Steve, who then relays to Gary and Roy.

5).  You're not looking at bruce's ass the whole time. Although, I am sure many do.  The whole stage is wide open.  If you are down in the 100's and even closer you don't have the distance of rows of people in front of you.   If a row starts at "A" the rear usually starts seating further up the alphabet.  So you'll get a ticket that says row "L" but its the second row of the rear.

6).  Experience it once-  just like the pit and being at front of stage with hands on stage.  Anything beyond that is a choice.

All the best man.

Desa33.

here is a link of a folder that I use to send selected videos from shows to "certain people" and talk about lighting, angle, settings on camera. etc.etc.

Single camera behind stage

Panasonic Lumix x100 full 4k on scandisk

This is not video that you go home and say to everyone, "hey check this out that I filmed in Toledo."  I'm sending  my videos to the people that have the time and the expertise to do powerful multi cams with the official audio.   A few of the top name dudes in the gig, I have already sent my footage to and they were very happy to plug in selected scenes or a few seconds here ... a few seconds there... etc.etc.

Now, that being said, Portland was a horrible experience filming - more so than Dallas.  I just gave up for a few songs until I felt strong enough to stand on bad leg /knee and using my height (6ft 2) as an advantage over the people in front.  Still Portland is the bottom tier of what I have captured but still viewable and pretty good.   As soon as it is completely uploaded to cloud, I will make it available to the whole Pony.   (My mom used to say when I would come home on the weekend during college, "Kevin , do you want this leftover?  we were just gonna throw it out to the dog?"    ).

You nailed it. We did it once in Mannheim, Germany. It was nothing but spectacular! As you said yo see a thousand things that happen on stage. The little smirks or shrugs, Following just Bruce wherever he may go with his eyes, it’s unbelievable that he is doin‘ it 99% of the show - target locked and waiting for the moment when Bruce sends out some kind of signal for this or that.
The things that happen when the guys turn their backs to the crowd and start discussing or the quick set changes set up in seconds.

But best of all was that you get the feeling of yourself being the rockstar in front of the crowd. The Place goin‘ nuts, fully lid and seeing Bruce facing the Pit with you looking from behind: absolutely insane! The view: geez!

was kinda disappointed when we could not score tickets in the Pit or on the stands, but when the band entered the stage it was all blown away.

@desa33 Bad seats behind the stage? No. Do it! You will like it! Not for every show, but the experience is well worth it!

Are there vid screens for the folks in the back? I will attend the PHX show Nov. 30, and will likely get day-of tix, possibly behind the stage if I can't get near-face "good" seats.  I watched Portland tickets drop like a rock the last two days, possibly due to weather concerns. I'm definitely not planning on paying $600 for 6 (not counting fees) like I did here (Sec 223). I might be willing to pay near that if they are much closer than 50-yard line side, mid-level, which is the best I've never had for Bruce. Might even go for GA pit for a change if they are really reasonable late.

Any perspective on this is appreciated.

They are a wee bit smaller. Some venues have such good views you don't watch the screens too often, eg: Philadelphia and MSG.

Actually it could be every venue as I was only behind the stage at those two.

Thanks for your replies.

As far as I can see there are unfortunately no real indoor shows on the European leg of this tour. Only a couple of stadiums where the roof can be closed.

So I guess I'll have to wait for the next tour.

My humble advice is not to ‘wait for the next tour’.   I had that attitude when Bruce went from 3-5000 seat theaters in 1978 to arenas in 1980.  (Insert Simpson ‘D’oh’ here).  Bruce is 73.  We have already lost 2 key original E Street Band members.  It IS a different show without Clarence. One feels the loss of Danny.  For the vast majority of today’s fans, Nils is integral to the band.  Steven missing would be an open would. As for Max and Roy, they ARE the defining sound.  As for Gary, well Gary is that little gemstone whise refraction quietly makes the Diamond in the middle of the ring sparkle so brightly.   You get my point.   It’s one thing to decide not to attend for many reasons, and for this particular tour there are ample reasons to chose from, but to ‘wait for the next tour’ at this stage of the band’s life should not be one of them.  IMHO

I have to agree. As anyone who reads this board already knows, the price's & Bruce's pre-tour attitude regarding them really put me off. That being said who knows how much longer the boys and gals will be touring. Heck, we could have another pandemic.  That's one of the main reasons I'm going to shows at all.

I'm guessing in the back of all our minds, we've asked ourselves... could this be it... is this the final tour?  Is that why there's no name for this tour?

Could Bruce 'The Good Guy',  the one I grew to love have raised his prices for an altruistic reason?  Did he do it so all that worked for him through the many years, the roadies, tech people, etc... is he giving them a pension as a send off?

Nah, I think he's just being greedy but I'm still going.  I'm just not going to the other 17 shows that I might have normally gone to.

We're sorta like this:

and this...

...still going.

At @Q2 and @Oats

I've the same feeling in my bones that this might be the last tour of this scale. Therefore I've secured a ticket for the show in Hamburg / Germany on Jul 15, 2023. Due to limited time and resources this will be my only show on this tour.

So Mr. Springsteen you better have something special in the bag for Hamburg

So, Mr Springsteen, when you see a 40’ X 25’ white banner draped from the 3rd balcony anywhere obstructing the views of 375 people in the 2nd balcony below it, you had better play Lonely Night In The Park, Linda Let Me Be The One, Over The Hills of Saint Croix, Protection, You Mean So Much To Me Baby, The Little Things My Baby Does and The Way.

If there is a 50’ X 30’ baby blue banner hung from the mid-arena 2nd level lodges, it is not  mine. Ignore it. They are new fans since 2016.
