Any baseball fans out there who want to discuss Mets vs. Cubs and Royals vs. Blue Jays?

I'm afraid that if I mention I'm a Mets fan it might jinx them in some way.
I have tried to stay awake to listen to all the mets games, but failed each time. It has now become a routine & I think I'll jinx the WS if I manage to stay awake for them.
I have followed this team through thick and thin for as long as I can remember. This victory is particularly sweet because no one really expected it on Opening Day, when it was pretty much a given the Gnats would take it all. Great pitching took them through when the bats were quiet, and when the arms tired, the bats somehow came alive.
Let's Go, Mets, and thank you for taking us along on what's been an amazing ride, now let's finish this!
As for superstition, yeah. I was putting some clothes away and found the Mets shirts I'd worn in recent years, and decided not to wear them this year, the thinking being that I wore them in the dark years when they kept losing, so wearing them would bring bad luck.
I'm not the only one I know who thinks like that. Scary.
I sent the same text to my buddy who's a die hard Met's fan at he start of each playoff game, 'Nice Start!'
He'd reply: 'Don't jinx them'
At the end of each game, I'd send this: 'Jinx my ass!'
He's going to pay me to continue this tradition into the World Series. lol
True Mets fans cannot fully experience joy. They are convinced a big giant foot is going to step on them if they do.
I enjoy Ron Darling trying so hard to be professional and not pull a Phil Rizzuto while commenting on the broadcast.
Absolutely spot on true. But look at Mets history and you can understand why. I think we, along with fans of teams like the Cubs and I'd guess the Indians and the pre-2004 Red Sox, are conditioned to expect the worst and to always wonder, what's next to curse us.
I had a huge blowout with one of the doctors I work with earlier this summer (disclaimer, he does not like baseball) when he could not understand my pessimism, and "what next" mentality. He told me I was not a "real" fan with this attitude, but my response was that only a real fan could understand that 12 game win streak and 7 game lead be damned, the Mets will find some way to blow it.
Guess which is the Yankee;s glass and which is the Met's?
Probably not this year.
So I started listening to the game last night, first pitch = inside the park home run. That's it no more listening for me
That was a very, very painful end to a five hour investment. If tonight's game is over in an hour and the Mets win by 12 I'll be a happy man. I don't think my stomach can take anything less.
I watched it at my local pub which happens to be an Irish Pub/Sports Bar.
The bartender is a die hard Met's fan. He's usually happy go lucky, always a smile on his face. His arms were crossed the entire game and his face was a stone, grimace.

All 14 innings Oats? - you must have been hammered
You got to bear in mind the games start at midnight UK time - too much for me
Nope, I always pace myself. I haven't got hammered and driven in 40 years.
I live only 5 mins from the establishment and I must confess I left between the 13th and 14th inning. The barkeeps were closing up. They said I could stay and watch it with them but I was getting a bit tired. I caught the last inning at home on TV where I'll probably watch it tonight. lol
That's a good approach (Y)
When you said five minutes - I thought you meant walking
This Mets fan is not happy right now. The team looked dead yesterday, you have to wonder if all the hype and lack of experience is finally catching up with them. Guess this means I won't have to call in sick <cough cough> in order to attend the ticker tape parade. Oh well, it ain't over till it's over as a wise man once said.
This season has already exceeded my wildest expectations
I believe that playing at Citi Field will help & the lack of DH will impact KC more than Mets, but we need some offense now that Murph seems to be back to being Murph again
Seven game series, has to be!
