One of my best Bruce experiences was when I saw him in Ames Iowa on the Born In The USA tour. Me, my cousin Paul and his best friend Bobby all drove there and had a great time, drinking beer and listening to the incredible songs of Born In The USA and Nebraska LIVE, plus all the great classics. After that concert we went to an all night place to eat and there were some girls there (from Ames) who were at the concert and we all ended up sharinig a table and me and this girl Paula really hit it off and I bought her breakfast and we even talked on the phone for about two months after. We only had a couple dates though since she lived in Ames and I lived near Lincoln at the time and the onyl times we got to go out were when she was at her Aunt's in Council Bluffs. Anyways, aside from meeting her, the best moment of that show was that Bruce played Sugarland, which is an awesome still unreleased song and means a lot to anyone who grew up on or near a farm. Memories. Awesome Bruce times. And now this morning I downloaded the concert and am reliving all those times. Anyone else have excellent Bruce concert memories that they like to relive?

OAN is for deep serious and often critical Springsteen discussion. If you want to whack off to heart warming memories perhaps GL is your board. They gush ad nauseum over there.

Um, I thought my post was pretty serious and I don't want to whack off to your stories just hear some. Jeez.

And if this is such a deep, serious, critical discussion forum then how come they're allowed to talk about how Backstreets is about lesbians but I can't post about an actual Bruce moment in time?

Plus, I joined in on some subjects so I can start one can't I?
Hiding (our love) on the backstreets.
Desparate lovers (this was the 70s, not 2008).
Valentino drag.
Lies killed us.
Truth ran us down.
Hated him (the hetero lover).
We're just like all the rest.

I don't have any doubt what he was singing about.

If the song were about the Duke Street Queens, would you have a hard time believing it was about gay men?

Well, the Duke Street Queens wouldn't probably be as tough a gang as The Kings.

So, by your logic, This Hard Land is gay. You could take all kinds of songs titles and lyrics and say "OH NO THAT'S GAY!" Ponyboy! OH NO! I'm Goin Down? GAY! Rosalita must be agay song, too, since "closets are for hangers." Ooh maybe those girls on the corner in Darlington County were really drag queens in drag! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! And that Danicng In The Dark video!! How come Monica has a boy's haircut in that? GAY!

You convinced me. Bruce is a gay.

I think you just keep following me around to pester me. That's called FLAMING! So you might be the gay one. Your name's Julius and everything. Tell me what kind of straight American kid goes around with Julius for a name.
lighten up, francis.

I think I struck a nerve with the new guy. rofl. my wife thinks it's funny too. her name is Frank(ie).

psst...there are lots of gay people in the world...and some of them even live in Nebraska. get used to it. and I'm not pestering you - i'm having fun with the fng.

for the record - it's a long standing joke, among some people in the online bruce community, to joke about backstreets and the lesbians. it was a discussion that started in about 1995 I think - i'm pretty sure on the old AOL board - and the level of hostility regarding backstreets combined the mere idea that lesbians could be at the center of it (a song that was so precious to so many) was unreal. comical actually. the conversation/joke might have spilled into r.m.a.s. for a while too. if i recall, dave marsh even had fun with it for a while. so please, calm down.

what was most comical was seeing which person would post the angriest response.

guess what? you're up there.
Maybe he is testing the waters at the Lake. Julius shame on you for being too harsh on the newbie. Especially in OAN. Shattering his image of Bruce and the boys.

The version of Sugarland from this boot is pretty damn good.
