This place is still here! I drifted away from message boards for many years but reading about BTX last week and the tour found me lurking at GL again. Might as well pop in here too. Is the server still out there? I don’t know how many discs I burned 20 years ago thanks to this group.

I've been along for the ride since Born To Run but was only an occasional poster on the Backstreets message board. I didn't even know of SPL's existence until yesterday. Thanks for welcoming me aboard!

Moderating is a thankless job, I think Flynn did the best he could. Sadly it appears they're letting the forum burn to the ground right now.
I'm not gonna badmouth btx. That was one of two online forums that became internet homes for some of my biggest interests and passions. For a long time that forum was a part of my daily routine. I'll stay here once it goes away for good since I recognize a lot of logins and it does look great. But honestly I will miss btx a lot. Probably more than I should and even more than I expect to.

Flynn was an awful mod.
He would enable the toxicity & disparaging comments about Bruce, the band, the wives & what-have-you, but anytime you would make a criticism about the armchair insiders (especially his little minion luckytwn), he bans people w/o warning.
I guess when you look like the caricature of a balding nerd, you tend to get a little drunk w/ power on the internet.

Well, there is a bit of the old nasty SPL back. Not sure about his mod skills but I met Flynn at a DC show at Nationals Park (we were next to each other on the floor at the far right of the stage) and he was really kind.
Anyway, glad to have new active members in here, it's a welcome boost of energy.

He kept me off that dying site for over a decade. Talk all you want about "kind" but I beg to differ. He was the keeper of the gate in pretentious fan land. He cleaned house of anyone but his friends. I suspect part of taking down Backstreets was simply to assist his $6 a month Patreon.
