We’ll always remember the Big Man.

Gary U.S. Bonds will headline the 5th annual Big Man’s Birthday Bash, Saturday, Jan 7 at Bar Anticipation in Lake
Como. Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez, J.T. Bowen, John Cafferty and Michael “Tunes” Antunes,  John Eddie and His Dirty Ol’ Band,  the BIG RoaD All Star Band , Ricky Byrd and the Nick Clemons Band are also on the bill of the day-long show.

The event will benefit the CFC Loud N Clear and TOPAC (The Overdose Prevention Agency Corporation) groups, both Jersey-based non-profit organizations that support those addicted to drugs.

“My father always taught me to ‘give back’ and remember the less fortunate,” said Nick Clemons, Clarence Clemons’ son, in a statement. “I try to do that and CFC Loud N Clear and TOPAC do great work at a time that New Jersey still has its worst heroin epidemic ever.”

Clemons’ NCB Productions is co-producing the show with BIG RoaD productions.

Jesse Warren of the Jersey Shore-based BIG RoaD lost his brother, Scott Warren, to a heroin overdose in March of 2015.

“The heroin addiction crisis in Monmouth and Ocean Counties has been building for many years and has, unfortunately, received national note,” said Warren in a statement. “We are all responsible to keep the issue front and center in our communities.”

The event’s other performers include Jillian Rhys McCoy, JoBonanno, Eddie Testa, Nick “The Philly Elvis” Ferraro, Pat Roddy, Killer Joe, Tommy Byrne, Brianna Autiero, the Harry Filkin Band, John Caspi and the First Gun, Broken Past, the Bob Polding Band and the Rock of Ages Band.

Clemons, the long-time saxophonist of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, died June 18, 2011, in Florida from complications of a stroke he suffered six days earlier. His birthday, Jan. 11, is now Clarence Clemons Day in the state of New Jersey. Gov. Chris Christie signed a resolution, which was sponsored by Sen. Jennifer Beck, R-Monmouth, in 2014.

It reads, in part, “whereas, during the E Street Band’s legendary live concerts Clarence Clemons’ saxophone solos were highly anticipated and he was always introduced last in the band introductions, to the delight of the concertgoers who greeted his every move with roars of approval.”

Clemons would have been 75.
