The lineup is set.

Willie Nile, Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, Jesse Malin, Low Cut Connie, Steve Forbert and the Renditions, James Maddock, Joe D'Urso & Stone Caravan, and John Eddie and His Dirty Ol Band will play full band sets and Dean Friedman and Ben Arnold will play acoustically at the Light of Day's "Bob Birthday Bash" show on Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park.

The show is the signature event of the Light of Day Winterfest, which runs in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia from Jan. 11 to 21, raising funds in the fight against Parkinson's and related diseases.

The Paramount show traditionally ends with a singing of "Happy Birthday" to Bob Benjamin, the festival founder who has Parkinson's. The Bash's lineup is deep with festival heritage artists, like Nile, Grushecky and D'Urso, who have been steady for the cause over the 19 years the fest has spanned.

The closing weekend starts with Remember Jones; Williams’ Honor; Johnny Piasano's Rock 'n Roll Pizzeria; and Marc Ribler’s Red, White & Brit Tribute to the Who featuring Ribler's fellow Disciples of Soul members Andy Burton, Jack Daly and Rich Mercurio on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the House of Independents on Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park.

The Ventures, whose instrumental hits include "Walk, Don't Run" and "Hawaii Five-O," will play the Asbury Angels Induction show Friday, Jan. 18, at the Stone Pony. The Weeklings, Black Flamingos, Billy Walton Band, Milly and Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son are also on the bill of show, which features the revealing of late Asbury Park music scene players and supporters to be enshrined on the boardwalk later in the year.

The Ventures, which were formed in 1958, do not include any original members, but drummer Leon Taylor is the son of long-time drummer Mel Taylor.

The Light of Day action begins with Nile, James Maddock, Danielia Cotton, Williams Honor, Joe D’Urso, Jon Caspi, Christine Martucci, Laura Crisci and Rick Winowski on Friday, Jan. 11, at the  Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair.

Overall there's going to be more than 150 music acts playing in the fest. Bruce Springsteen became associated with the Light of Day when he made his festival  debut, unannounced, in 2000 at the Stone Pony. He’s performed, all unannounced, at 11 of 18 Light of Days, the last time being 2015.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects nearly 1 million people in the United States and over 10 million worldwide, according to the Parkinson’s Foundation. It’s the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s and is the 14th leading cause of death in the U.S.

The Light of Day has generated more than $5 million in the fight against Parkinson’s, PSP, or progressive supranuclear palsy, and ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Programs included Boxing for Bob, which is designed to use boxing exercises for the benefit of people with Parkinson’s and related disease. The classes are offered free of charge in several New Jersey gyms stating that they will benefit from the program, funded by the Freehold-based Light of Day  Foundation.

The Asbury Park Press is a title sponsor.

Myself and a bunch of other SPLrs have been attending this for years.  Whether or not Bruce makes an appearance is secondary to the cause.  It's a great time with some great live music and it rocks for four straight days, Thursday thru Sunday.  If you've never attended, I urge you to do so.  It's a great cause and you'll have a fabulous time.

Anyone have 2 extras to sell?  I missed the onsale date and by the time I remembered, everything was sold out.  Not wanting to go on Stubub as they burned me with U2 tickets.  Thanks in advance.

I've seen them popping up on BTX's seller forum.  Check it out.   They are always at cost over there.
