the thing I like is his willingness to continue to play with his 'classics' in a way others don't ie U2 always sound like the record would love to hear beuatiful day slow and it would give it a whole new meaning. favourite live moment ever was at villa parkon the tol tour, and he came out and sang born to run slow, first time I heard it live and slow. you would never get the 'major' bands messing with their own hits. (obviously imho)

Horseshit.

Nirvana did an unplugged concert and album. Cyndi Lauper just released an accoustic "greatest hits". The whole unplugged/accoustic genre is huge.

God knows how many bands have re-released albums or greatest hits collections played with orchestral backing, including Styx, Procol Harum, Meatloaf, Elton John, Jann Arden...

David Lee Roth released a Van Halen Greatest Hits package in some sort of hillbilly style

Yeah,  It's me.

in about 1990 or something unplugged started and everyone started to do it and it keeps up to this day.
I think Bon Jovi started the idea off actually.
But I do think it's good that Springsteen keeps moving on and changing his songs, like he said about born to run acoustic that's his job. So at least he's not just another middle aged rocker playing the songs exactly the same way they sounded 30 years ago with a bunch of dead beat session musicians (because they're cheaper.) Saying that, I do hate what he's done to some of his songs on the Seeger tour. Though I do love the album.
The sweetest songs don't last too long on Broken radios.
[][]God knows how many bands have re-released albums or greatest hits collections played with orchestral backing, including Styx, Procol Harum, Meatloaf, Elton John, Jann Arden...[/].....Metallica, Kiss, even Kansas - all awful. And the Styx one is actually a Dennis "solo" release. I know these things. [/]

Even Kasabian are recording with the BBC orchestra this month. We wait with baited breath for that one <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Mettalica did it a few years back and it was fucking awful.

Bruce can release what he likes. He's made his mark on music & is as popular as ever. The Seeger album is good as was the show I saw in Manchester. He's only having a rest from writing his own songs, and in any case Pete Seeger's songs have been brought to a new audience; which is good for his memory. He gets older - but the quality still goes on. Keep it up Bruce!!
manchester 2006 worst springsteen gig I've ever been to. not good at all. and I saw him at sheffield arena on the human touch thing.
Bruce for me, is either a large scale outdoors thing with a band or should play the appollo for solo tours would happily pay ?80-90 for the appollo in stead of ?40-50 the arena just not a good barn. great for ice hockey though.
