SPL Live Vol. 9 I Wanna Get Lost In The Rock and Roll

Here is SPL's copy of this 3 volume compilation distributed in 2003.  There were numerous requests on Greasy Lake for a lossless copy to replace the lossy mpeg encoded one that, at least on that website and ABMS, is the only one available.

Fortunately, some of us were around back then, and right next to the T-Rex exhibit at the SPL Museum, I found a fossilized folder with shorten files labeled track01.shn, track02.shn and so on. No, the md5 was not called noname.md5, I guess I renamed it.

Shorten was always a reliable format, but gradually lost popularity to FLAC because it lacked the self-checking cabability, tagging and ability to contain advanced formats.  Now it is so rare that collectors ococcasionally complain of not having the shorten codec.

I used my shorten files and another source to make this the best edition I could;  not every track is perfect, but it is pretty close. I checked all known sources of a couple of the weaker tracks, and found in both cases the copy in this collection was already the best one available.

Each  track is tagged with date, venue and in many cases, composer, but I did not change the track titles or edit the source audio. Original artwork and track information is included.  This collection was put together well in 2003

I know a few people like the tagged files in their i-pods, but my primary reason for doing this was to make the lossy copies disappear. You got to give ancient statues a coat of paint every 20 years, and if you don't clear the sand from the Great Sphinx, it will get buried by the Sahara Desert again.
