Nils Lofgren releasing “Blind Date Jam” concert video capturing unrehearsed performance

E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren recently got together with some talented musical friends for an intimate improvisational performance at the Cattle Tracks Gallery in his adopted hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. The show was recorded for a new concert video called Blind Date Jam, which will be released exclusively via NilsLofgren.com on Friday, November 17.

In a promo clip of the video, Lofgren explains the show’s concept: “Me and some friends got together, had a big jam with no idea what we were gonna do. I just led us through some riffs [and] we had some big fun.”

Blind Date Jam consists of two digital videos totaling 80 minutes, and is priced at $10. The performance features Lofgren joined by his frequent touring collaborator Greg Varlotta on guitar, keyboards, trumpet and trombone; Gary Bruzzese on drums; and John Willis on bass.

In other news, Nils reports that he’s planning to begin recording a new solo album in early 2018, and also intends to schedule some solo performances next year. Lofgren indefinitely postponed a series of gigs in 2016 when Bruce Springsteen unexpectedly decided to line up a tour in celebration of the deluxe reissue of his The River album that wound up getting extended into 2017.
