While it seems natural to question the timing of this one, it’s an obvious choice to be an archive release. It’s a unique, great performance. To me, that is what these archive releases should be offering. Yes, there should have been a Rising tour release by now, Winterland 1978, Vietnam Vets, Bottom Line 1975, something from the pre-Born to Run E Street Band (if a professional recording exists), and so on.

My guess on the timing of this one is Flannigan’s reference to Springsteen on Broadway. Since we won’t be getting the DVD of that show until the end of the year at the earliest, we’re getting this now. It would be nice if Bruce, Inc. and Nugs would be more open about the reasoning and timing of their selection process.
