I liked the tour...liked the studio cd...and I haven't bought the DVD or CD yet and have no real intention of getting it anytime soon. I think it's interesting from a marketing viewpoint how poorly this release has been been viewed in the eyes of Bruce's biggest fans. The tour absolutely tanked in the U.S., but even I thought it would sell more than nothing the first few weeks that it was in stores. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when the Sony people discussed the first week numbers. Sony should just stop production on the disc and dvd, call it a limited edition release and cut their loses!
I don't think it really hurts Bruce's standing in the general public's eyes since I'm positive that they have no idea the thing is even in stores. I have to assume that the new E Street release will be greeted with open arms by Sony, and their publicity department, and that it will probably open with sales near the 300K mark -- still a few hundred thousand less than the Rising did it's first week, but still acceptable.
Anyone else intrigued by the Dylan '07 3 CD set that's coming out in the fall? I know it's a catalog release and probably another greatest hits for old Bob, but I'm curious to see what Sony puts on the discs...
