Reply to "Catalogue Sold?"

Now Bowie's estate does what seems to be the same thing, not the recordings but the rights to the song writing catalog, but for about half the price.  (Variety is quoted in the Washington Post article saying Bruce's deal is a record of it's type).  I'm wondering if that deal closed before Bruce's deal came out?  They both have about the same number of original albums and although I love Bruce and did not appreciate Ziggy Stardust when it came out (a friend recommended it so i bought it without hearing it and could not get into it so returned it, something you could do back in the early 70's), it could certainly be argued that Bowie had a bigger impact on the directions of rock music several times over.

Thoughts?
