In Maryland, 42 cents per gallon is going to federal and mostly state government.

Are you as stupid as you sound? How does Exxon report billions of dollars in PROFIT @ 4 cents per gallon? They are laughing all the way to the bank. The oil companies made money when oil was $15/barrel; I believe you meant the GAS STATIONS make 4 cents/gallon.
