Finally going to make the trip across the big pond to see my hero. I've wanted to see him in Ireland since the Slane Castle show back in '85 and Seasidebarhusband just gave the ok yesterday. This girl is on cloud 9 right now!

Very nice, enjoy
Ireland is beautiful. We went in 2008 and had a wonderful time, 3 shows and another 5 days of sightseeing and drinking. I don't advise eating. lol
I lived in Dublin for a year in 2001. Good times. Good people.

Ah now, I could understand if that came from a Frenchman ...
Seasidebargirl, send me a PM if you want/need any advice on getting to the shows, or travelling around Ireland. It's worth bearing in mind that Meath is an awful place, and you're best off giving it a wide berth. There's at least one resident of Meath on this forum who might argue otherwise; just remember that it's the law that you have to marry your first cousin there, and draw your own conclusions.
I will absolutely take any travel advice from anyone that lives in or has visited both Scotland and Ireland. We are going for two weeks. We had been talking about this trip for the last month and it was only saturday morning that I had the ah ha moment that I could move up our dates so that I could see Bruce. Somewhat scared and overwhelmed along with the excitement since this our first trip abroad. Plus they drive on the wrong side of the road! Will take any and all suggestions of must see and don't bothers!!
What a great idea! Now I wish I was going to Dublin this time araound, but no can do.
My round trip of Ireland was so long ago (1999) that I'm not sure travel tips are still valid. I remember I liked the Connemara coast, the Cliffs of Moher and Killarney.
As far as Scotland goes I have only been to Oban and Glasgow. Liked both though.

We did a similar trip - covered the SW side - from the Cliffs of Moher down to DIngle for a few days, Killarney (my wife loved the Muckross House) then down to Kinsale. The countryside is just beautiful.
My only recommendation is, if you are driving on country roads, plan extra time because it takes longer to get places on those narrow winding roads.
Take an umbrella, raincoat and wellies. It might never rain in southern California but it always f'ing rains in Ireland.
