on the 11th of course.

I was wondering if you had passed out.I posted if you were still with us.

those Tylenol#3 suck....

It wasn't a pass out, I just finally fell asleep around 4:30, then got up around 10:30 today. The pills do little for me, this body abused itself with much more wonderful drugs in my youth, LOL. They do help the soreness in my throat, but they won't knock me out.

It's 15 1/2 hours ahead of EST so the 7:30PM start there next show will be 4AM here, right about time for some hockey game to be starting in Sochi. Oh and add in the usual 30-45 minute Bruce delay, so figure 4:30-4:45 starts, even worse for you.

I like 1:30 am far better then the 3:30 am start. But it will be hard to sleep before and after the show.At least with the 3:30 am start I could get a good sleep in beforehand. And now by the time the show ends it will be time to get the teen up for school.

So no sleep after.Yea yea I know..my priorities are screwed up... but it's Bruce...

So here's my take for those who think from the looks of it that the show was nothing extraordinary.

I first started listening to Bruce in 1997. Tracks was the first Bruce release that I could get at the same time as everyone else. I followed the reunion tour online in 99/00, but being a Perth native I knew my chances of seeing him live were as remote as my hometown.

Sure Bruce traveled to Australia, but Perth's remoteness couple with the complete lack of a venue suitable for someone as great as Bruce meant we were always in the dark. Until now of course (thanks Perth Arena).

So I guess you could say that I was going to love the show no matter what happened, seems how the expectations and fandom could cushion me from anything not great. Simply put, it didn't happen. I even sat there thinking that since the guy's performed so many drop-dead brilliant shows, he was probably due for a stinker and that knowing my luck, it would have been my night.

Didn't happen.

Perth #3 ruled. Hopefully the downloads confirm that for those not there. The energy that the band gave off was insane. I've stood in front of Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Tony Iommi, Eddie Van Halen and Dean Ween (at different times obviously), and I still can't recall a guitar barrage like Saturday night. It simply didn't let up (save for 'The Promise', 'Terry's Song' and 'Thunder Road' obviously).

Yeah, a part of me wishes 'Backstreets' or 'Racing in the Street' were played, and while they would've been great I don't know if they would've fit the show to be honest.

You see, Perth crowds are a tame bunch. Bruce worked his ass off to get the crowd off theirs, and he when he finally got them on his feet he did his best to keep them there.

Highlights? 'Highway to Hell' was great. Ragged to be sure, but it's AC/DC, not the Eagles. It's supposed to be ragged. The Darkness four-punch to the guts signalled the intent of the night and it just carried on from there.

Having said all that, it was a song I never liked ('Terry's Song') that had me on the verge of tears. Played by sign request, dedicated to a guy called Erik, whose picture was on the request sign. Not sure whether he's passed, or ill, but damn it was such a moving performance that the YouTube clip, as great as it is, doesn't do proper justice.

Such a great night, and even though a glance at the setlist may make you think "meh"... don't ever try and tell me it wasn't special. Because you couldn't be further from the truth.

Ciao!

Sorry, but I could already see from the set list that it was special!

Together with the first YouTube clip from HtH you could already feel the energy from reading the set list. Yesterday I listened to (half of) the download and yes, there was energy in the Arena. And yes, sure it must have been special for those who have been there!

I'm really glad, that you people in the "remotest city on the planet" got your share of great Bruce concerts. Faith will be rewarded!

Thansk for the report!
