We've talked about it in the past. Now let's do it.

Let's name the Top 5 bootlegs for each tour, with as many as 5 more suggestions. The sound has to be pretty damn good for a boot to make the list, but sound quality is not the sole criteria. We'll weigh in the performance (i.e., the energy level, the setting, the setlist, etc.) because that matters, too. Otherwise we'd all be listening to the Atlanta Rising boot, which won't even make the list.

I'll keep a running list here at the top of what the consensus seems to be for each tour. It will change, of course.
Anybody who wants other ideas can probably dig through this thread someday for suggestions that fell short. There are going to be a lot of excellent boots that don't make the list.
So let's get started.

This is the 'Reunion' tour thread, covering the dates 1999-04-09 to 2000-07-01.

I posted on of the general threads that I would love to see 8.27.99 Boston considered. The sound is a typical audience recording but the setlist is great and the performance was outstanding. A very intense show to close the Boston stand. I always hold out hope that a ald version or a full video will surface.

Here is Candy's Room opening the show.

PEr Brucebase there is an ALD version- maybe someone can work some magic

Audience and ALD tape - Awesome setlist - Raise Your Hand has guest Peter Wolf. If I Should Fall Behind features a section where Bruce is swapping guitars as his stops working. Available on CD's "Boss-ton Rocks" and "Rendezvous"
Some suggestions:

1999-09-24 Spectrum (The Big 50)
1999-10-28 Oakland (Frisco Third Night)
1999-11/15 Cleveland (Just The Boys In Cleveland)
1999-11-17 Columbus (IEM-AUD mix - I can?t remember the title)

Though to be realistic if it's to be five shows, for me it's 9/25/99 Philly, 10/23/99 LA, 7/1/00 and two others.

"I've done my best to live the right way"

Does anybody still have the "original" recording from the 9/25/99 Philly show and could upload it somewhere? I am talking about the version that was on the FTP Server back then and it is the same source that Ev2 used for his release, judging from the loud sax parts. I lost my copy of the original version and, honestly, I liked it much better than Ev2's version which has way too much treble for my ears and too much bass, as well, the latter resulting in the bass notes completely melting in the bass drum, like there was no bass playing at all.

If anybody could upload this, awesome!

Other than Philly:

1999/10/23 PS version
1999/11/15 Cleveland Flynn's ALD/AUD mix

2000/06/20 PS version
2000/07/01 Flynn's Uber mix

Honorable mentions:

1999/10/21 Ev2 We just work here
1999/10/26 Frisco Second Night
2000/05/08 Hartford (I like EV2s version a tiny bit better than Flynn's even though it is compressed to a ridiculous extent but it has more audience)

I think the Frisco Night releases are much closer to Soundboards than to straight IEMs (which they aren't, anyway, they're ALDs) since they have ALL instruments clear and upfront. Matter of taste, of course, as the audience is close to non-existent, but the sound is excellent nonetheless, samples here:

they're IEMs - there are only a few true ALDs - Boston 22/8 and Atlanta 02 for example. IEMs always have an unbalanced instrument mix, usually Garry's bass upfront. Guitar and sax are often buried way down.
"Ma-ha-ha-ha-ighty One! Big Maaaaaaaan! Ouiiiiiiiek!"

That's how far I usually get when I try to listen to the Stockholm show, to me, the absolutely most overrated boot both sound- and performancewise ever.....

But I know that most like this one, so it will probably be the representative of the Euro leg, anyway, just couldn't let it go without saying it at least once wink Copenhagen Twang and Bercy Twang Night are more enjoyable, still, also Ev2s Regensburg release (but that's nostalgia, since it was my first ever Bruce show, so it is in my personal Top 5 in any case)

Sure? I always thought these were ALDs + the LA shows, Cleveland, Columbus, since they are always referred to as "ALD/AUD mixes".... Especially the Frisco shows sound much fuller than what I am used to from IEM's. But that's interesting, would not have thought...

There are a few rumored ald/iem's from the that haven't made it to common circulation. Share 'em if you have them.

It sounds better than the original recording I had but does not sound like an ALD to me. Can you shed any light? I assume this was just a tinkering.

That's just a C&P from brucebase, that's just the audience tape. I don't think the ALD / IEM circulates.

BTW, forget about the 6/29 IEM, it's awful. Something is messed up with the drums, they just come through as crackles.

I just downloaded and listened to this show from the BTX thread following your recommendation. Good call, thanks a lot, very good sound (some crackles aside, vocals loud and clear, great audience participation) and performance, excellent setlist, too...

The truth is the Oaklands are IEMs and ALDs. Its a mix of Garry's IEM feed, an ALD feed and an audience recording. That's why it is fuller and the mix more complete than most other IEM onlys from the tour (LA, Cleveland). It wasn't until later in the tour when multiple boxes were run.

I was hoping you'd chip in. Thanks for the info.
To cut it to 12, I'd drop these 5:

1999-06-03 Paris (Bercy Night, CC)
1999-06-24 Stockholm (Stockholm Stadion Second Night, CC)
1999-08-22 Boston (Boston Night, CC)
1999-10-21 Los Angeles (We Just Work Here, Ev2
1999-10-26 Oakland (Frisco Second Night, CC)

You could also drop Cleveland and make it 11.

"I've done my best to live the right way"

As much as I love the Stockholm show, my final 5 comes down to:

1999-09-24 Philadelphia (The Big 50, Ev2)
1999-10-23 Los Angeles (Prodigal Son in the City of Angels, PS)
2000-05-08 Hartford (Insure Me Now, Ev2)
2000-06-04 Atlanta (Time To Premiere, Ev2)
2000-07-01 New York (A Good Night For A Ride, Uber series/Flynn)
