We've talked about it in the past. Now let's do it.

Let's name the Top 5 bootlegs for each tour, with as many as 5 more suggestions. The sound has to be pretty damn good for a boot to make the list, but sound quality is not the sole criteria. We'll weigh in the performance (i.e., the energy level, the setting, the setlist, etc.) because that matters, too. Otherwise we'd all be listening to the Atlanta Rising boot, which won't even make the list.

I'll keep a running list here at the top of what the consensus seems to be for each tour. It will change, of course.
Anybody who wants other ideas can probably dig through this thread someday for suggestions that fell short. There are going to be a lot of excellent boots that don't make the list.
So let's get started.

This is the 'Human Touch / Lucky Town' tour thread, covering the dates 1992-06-15 to 1993-06-01.

1992-06-17 Stockholm (Living Proof, CC)
1992-07-10 London (Wembley Night, CC)
1992-08-07 New Jersey (Friday Night)
1992-09-22 Los Angeles (Plugged & Raw, complete Plugged show)
1992-10-13 Tacoma (Good Seats Still Available)
1993-04-15 Sheffield (Sheffield Night, CC)
1993-05-14 Berlin (Waldb?hne Night, CC)
1993-05-20 Dublin (Let's Play That Sun Into The Ground)
1993-05-28 Stockholm (The Lost TV Special, RCR)

1992-10-13, Tacoma, WA (Good Seats Still Available) -- Very upfront sound and a great representation of the Fall shows

1992-09-22, Los Angeles, CA (Complete Plugged show) -- soundboard, so that's a big plus right there. Also, when the show is actually presented in its intended running order, it's a lot better.
While I know its (just) outside of the dates listed, the boot I keep coming back to is Meadowlands Night (CC) from 1993-06-24. Its got the "other" band - so it qualifies - but has a fire that I hear in few other shows, plus great guest appearances by Joe Ely (and of course by the end, many E Streeters). Sound is good, set list flows, Bruce is on fire. If it doesn't fit here, where does it?

That'll fit in the "out of tour" live performances section - we'll get there eventually wink

good call with Plugged, don't know how that one was missed.
Pete,

In the River tour thread, you wrote the following with regards to the partial Toronto soundboard:

But you then include the Dublin '93 soundboard for this tour. Maybe replace Dublin '93 could be replaced by 1993-05-14 Waldbuehne Night from Crystal Cat.

Not at all. That's probably the best one from the summer '92 part of that tour. It was Dublin '93 I was disagreeing with.

My picks for 92-93 are:
1992-07-XX, Wembley Night
1992-09-22, Los Angeles, CA (Complete Plugged show)
1992-10-13, Tacoma, WA (Good Seats Still Available)
1993-03-23, Red Bank, NJ
1993-05-28 Stockholm (The Lost TV Special, RCR)
Hey guys, I don't think a show has to be complete. There are a few great boots that don't have everything -- including that uber Rumson one, Dublin, the Toronto half show. They may or may not make the cut, but half a great boot is better than all of a lesser one.

It's been a long time comin' but now it's here
Yeah, now it's here

I never understood what people like about the sound of "Good seats still available". I remember listening to it while picking songs for the SPL series, and found it rather flat sounding. The problem with picking boots from tour is, well, the tour itself. I got a few nice sounding tapes from jungleland over the last few months, but I'd be damned if I remembered which shows they were from. I think I'd go with Wembley Night, Waldb?hne Night, Sheffield Night, and maybe Stockholm in our hearts (1993-05-28) and, well, Living Proof would do, although I'm not that convinced about the sound either.

If we do include incomplete shows, I'd go for Dublin as well.

We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it

That's the thing about the tour, right? The first three shows of the Tunnel tour were a little rough, too, but still they were excellent.
