For months I've been saying Trump will become resident. People thought I was joking. I wasn't. Never before have I wanted to be wrong so much. I was right, but it does not give me any satisfaction to be able to say "Told you so!"

The taste of your voice reveals what before was unknown.
Do you ever dream of the world like I do?

OK, so the majority of the electorate who actively voted against him are what?  The ones who will be working for four years to protect their fellow Americans from a demagogue deserve your disdain?  I'm not proud of what my country did, but I'm not giving up on what it may be capable of.  Neither will Bruce, if I can be so bold to project.

BCPKID

No, I'm definetely not agreeing of everything happening in my country. By far.

But here, the biggest issue is a premierminister WHO a few years back had to "borrow" Money from the taxpayers to buy suits, socks, shoes and underwear for his electioncampaign.

Compared to YOUR issues that's ridiculously laughable. But no... I hate when Things like that happens. It shouldn't be happening.

But I do hope your Work against power will be succesfull, honest !!!!

This was as much a referendum on Barry as anything else. Eight years later he created more debt than all the other US presidents combined. Never had a GDP above three (nice job, first president to do that). There are 95 MILLION people not working right now. Gave us the abortion that is Obamacare. Turned our borders into a joke (not the funny kind). Let's not forget he told the "Undocumented Americans" this week to vote in the election. You guys wanted a rock star. You got one. This is his legacy.

Are you retarded? Hell yeah it was better in '78!

She was a terribly flawed candidate.  The Democratic Party shares blame in this.  They knew how she would be received by a national audience.  Having lost the nomination in '08, that should have given everyone a clue.  People just don't like her.  And they don't like the establishment.  And they don't like their medical insurance doubling or tripling.  There are a lot of reasons why he won.  You can dismiss it as hatred, or ignorance.  But there is plenty of that to go around.  10 minutes on MSNBC, I saw enough hatred for a year.  One day we'll figure it out, and we'll start caring for each other, like Jesus said that we might.

Buckshot, are you seriously claiming that 30% of the US population is unemployed? Try 4.9% (7.8 million). That is equivalent to the rate that Obama inherited, and he weathered the greatest recession in 70 years in his 8 years in office. Moreover, the unemployment rate was higher in 2011 than it is now. Reducing this election to a mere referendum on the incumbent is far too simplistic. Look at the voter breakdowns. There is a frightening divide between rural and urban; between educated and uneducated; between white and African American, Latino et al

Julius is right to say that the Democrats picked a poor candidate, given the general global trend of frustration with political elites. However, that should have become irrelevant once the Republicans chose Trump. For the past year he has reduced political discourse to the verbiage of division (I won't call it rhetoric). He has exacerbated racial tension and gender separation to achieve his goals. 50+ million Americans have endorsed his message. For these voters, it's ok to label Mexicans as racists and felons; it's ok to question a judge's ability based on his ethnicity; it's ok to sexually assault women; it's ok to threaten your political opponents with jail; it's ok to encourage foreign nations to breach national security; it's ok to implement sectarian immigration policies; it's ok to not pay taxes; it's ok to consistently question the legitimacy of the incumbent president.  I could go on.

You make a big point of criticising Obama's economic performance. Trump's tax plan will increase national debt to 80% of US GDP within 20 years unless accompanied by significant spending cuts. It will benefit high income households, rather than the least well off, thereby further widening income disparity. And if he does cut spending, who do you think will suffer? Hint, it's not the wealthy.

Hillary may have been unlikeable, but surely four years of her as president would have been preferable to the massive increase in social instability that the US is likely to experience now. Calling for the healing of national wounds, as Trump did in his acceptance speech, would be funny if it weren't so sinister. He cannot undo the harm he has wrought with his divisive message with platitudes.

It's a sad time for those of us who thought that the western world was slowly maintaining forward progress. But with the Brits deciding that they too are better off in splendid isolation, and the rise of right wing parties across Europe, it looks to me like the future looks more unstable than it has since the end of the Second World War. I hope I am proved wrong.

Jesus. Does the internet not work across the pond? Mexico is a corrupt, lawless absolute shit hole. It's sad when I can name five times more Cartels than Mexican Elected Officials. It's seeping into the states. Scouts 25 miles in land. Areas of New Mexico and Arizona along the border that American citizens are told not to travel into.

Fuck 90 miles from where I live, Chicago has 600 plus murders. And the violence is linked back to Mexico.

And why do you think that "W" lost his base? He raised debt and didn't cut spending. Trump knows who elected him. The Democratic Rust Belt. Folks who have seen their jobs sent overseas, who then walk into Walmart and are the only folks who speak English.

Maintaining progress to what? Your ideology? What a clever act of semantics. Give me some of that!

OMG. The potential first First Man.

I don't think that's really relevant. Americans were not voting for Bill...and Hilary hasn't got a bad history in this regard whereas Donald certainly does.

I thought it was pretty poor of Donald during the debates to keep going back to what Bill did and didn't do all those years ago. Pretty stupid and irrelevant. But again most of what he said during the campaign was pretty stupid.

40.4%? Is that true unemployed? Doubt it.

Lies, damned lies and statistics...

I had a longer reply typed up Buckshot, asking a few questions as to why you selectively responded to some of the points, but I don't have the energy to engage fully with someone who actually relies for their information on that well known islamophobic website you linked to in your last post.

I'll summarise in response to your summarisation and refusal to engage with the actual points in discussion. Your stance is thus: Mexico is riddled with drugs and crime, ergo all Mexicans are rapists and felons. Chicago is riddled with murders, ergo Mexicans are rapists and felons (nice job ignoring the western world's disastrous narcotics policy). If an American is shot tomorrow, there is a 99% chance that the perpetrator will be a fellow American. If one man gets away with alleged sexual assault, it's ok to elect a man who *openly boasts about it* as President. The Enlightenment values of Liberté, Egalité and Fraternité, which is what I was referring to and which are enshrined in *your* constitution, are invalidated by Europe's struggle to deal with millions of refugees. Perhaps you feel that these values are only applicable to (white) Christians?

I'm out. Best of luck with the future under Donald. I'll leave you with the words of a President-elect who cannot hold a consistent thought for more than a few hours:

10 hours ago via Twitter: Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!

1 hour ago via Twitter: Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. We will all come together and be proud!
