Hello London and beyond.  I was at the Columbus show last night and have a few notes I haven’t seen posted anywhere:

*Amazing energy throughout from Bruce, band and crowd.

*Bruce referenced the last time he was in town and mistakenly greeted Detroit with a “Hello Ohio” at the following show.  When the crowd booed a little at the mention of Ohio’s rival state Bruce responded with, “It was a tough night for me, too.”

*Interesting to see Nils filling in for Steve on vocals.  A few times Bruce had to prompt Nils to join him center stage.  Nils did nice job on the back and fourths – especially during Prove it All Night.

*Nothing against Steve or Patti, but I wonder if the band isn’t better off when it’s a little more streamlined.  Just throwing it out there.

*Lonesome Day appeared to be an audible.  The Rising/Lonesome Day combo was well received.

*During Dancing In The Dark Bruce pulled a sign from a woman requesting “Kiss Roy’s bald head.”  Bruce let her on stage.  After fulfilling her mission she kissed everyone on stage, including the horns and singers.  It took a while.

*Also during DitD, Bruce brought up an older woman, gave her a guitar and let her help on vocals.  He walked her back to her seat and lifted her into the air before helping her into the pit.

*Light Of Day was a lot of fun.  It’s too bad it doesn’t get played a little more.

*Backstreets included the Sad Eyes interlude.

*The end of Tenth Avenue Freeze-out got a little dicey when there was a miscommunication between Bruce and Max (and others).  Bruce had to count it off to get things back on track.  Even then it was a little awkward.  That’s the glory of live music.

*I know you can count the number of subpar shows Bruce has played in his career on one hand, but Columbus always seems to get a nice effort with a few interesting songs.
