The E-Street Rocker and His Jazz Troup Joined CBA Students For A Great Evening and Cause
LINCROFT, N.J. – April 27, 2016 – The CBA Jazz Series hosted legendary E-Street drummer, Max Weinberg and his Jazz Quintet on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at The Henderson Theatre on the Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) campus in Lincroft NJ.
The long-time drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee performed with Academy students in the Jazz Ensemble and with his own Jazz troupe before a sold-out crowd of 350. Weinberg joins the growing list of jazz talent such as David Benoit, Terence Blanchard, Ravi Coltrane, and Yellowjackets who have performed at the annual series.
Before joining the CBA Ensemble, Weinberg addressed the audience: “I want to tell you what a pleasure it is for me to be here tonight. Also to say, witnessing the great music program CBA has in this era of cutbacks and funding for music programs--arts programs in general--it’s really wonderful that you have a great crowd to come out and support this type of endeavor,” said Weinberg.
Founder and organizer Joe Tort of Rumson explained, “We are very fortunate to have Max Weinberg and his jazz quintet for this year’s show given his demanding schedule with the current Springsteen tour and his standing swing band gig at The Rainbow Room in New York City. A favorite son of the Jersey Shore and friend to the arts, Max will show his versatility as a jazz drummer giving his fans a rare opportunity to experience Max in a different musical genre.”
The event also raised $30,000 during the evening as part of several VIP Backstage passes for an upcoming Bruce Springsteen concert were auctioned off.
