David Bergman; Danny ClinchBruce Springsteen & the E Street Band had a massive tour this year, and they were rewarded for their success on the road at the Billboard Touring Awards, held Wednesday night in Beverly Hills.

The Boss’ The River tour won the Top Tour honor for the top-grossing trek of the year. E Street Band pianist Roy Bittan was on hand to accept the award.

“We started a love affair with our fans, and for Bruce and the E Street Band our concerts became our most direct, emotional medium of communication and I believe it still is today, like so many other artists,” said Bittan.

Coldplay took home the prizes for Top Draw and Top Boxscore. That first one awards the best-attended tour, while the second is an award for the highest-grossing single engagement by an artist.

Meanwhile, Jon Bon Jovi was honored with the Legend of Live award. Jon, whose band has done more than 2,800 concerts in 50 countries for more than 35 million fans, attempted to explain Bon Jovi‘s success to the crowd.

“It is easy for me to say that it is about hard work and a little bit of luck, and usually I can go on about our integrity and caring for each other and for our craft,” he said. “But at the end of the day I know it is because we produce songs of optimism and hope. Regardless of fashion and fads, that message has remained consistent.”
